"Lavinia?"

"Hm?" She smiled at him.

"What's wrong?"

F*ck. She needed to get a grip. "Nothing. This soup tastes amazing." She daintily dipped her spoon into the creamy liquid and brought it to her mouth. Smooth, creamy, and refreshing. Gusto niya iyong itapon sa mesa. "Yeah, it's awesome."

Feeling cold inside, she forced herself to eat it.

"So Lavinia," sambit ni Oliver. "Are you personally involved in the development of your products? Or is it more like you give the direction and over all vision?"

"I'm personally involved," sagot niya. "I have a Masters in Biochemistry."

"Wow, and you also have a degree in medicine? My father wanted me to pursue medicine, I couldn't last two semesters." Tumawa ito at umiling.

"Do you cook, too?" nakangiting tanong ni Patricia. "They say chemists are the best chef."

"Cooking ruins my manicure."

Tumawa rin si Patricia. "Dilemma ko rin 'yan."

"She cooks great pasta," komento ni Evan.

Napatingin silang lahat dito. He was smiling down at her, and a gentle warmth lit up his blue eyes.

"It was really good," anito.

Namula ang mga pisngi niya sa pagkapahiya.

Good?

"It's just pasta, nothing as fancy as this."

The conversation continued, but she kept her participation to a minimum. She could feel Evan's tense gaze on her, but she ignored it.

The third course came, then the main course.

"You have a garden at the manor, right?" narinig niyang untag ni Caroline.

Pumihit si Evan nang kaunti sa direksyon ng babae His scent drifted toward her because of the slight movement, and she forced herself not to breathe too deeply. His scent always made her needy.

"She has this gorgeous rose garden!"

Muntikan na siyang tumawa. Gardening. Of course. At rose garden pa. There's just something about women and gardening. It's all about nurturing and all that maternal instincts.

"Rose garden?" May interes sa tono ni Evan. "May grandma wants a rose garden, but I think they're too difficult to grow in our climate."

"You can try Pitimini roses," masiglang patuloy ng babae, "they're small roses, and they're more adaptable to our tropical climate."

"Really?" May mangha sa boses ng binata.
