It had been almost a week since Minji and Hanni began texting each other more regularly. Even with their hectic schedules, they made it a point to send small updates, silly memes, and occasionally, overly dramatic rants about work.
Hanni's texts often came at the oddest times, usually while Minji was in the middle of a shoot or reviewing scripts.
Hanni: "Explain to me why choreographing in heels should be considered a form of torture."
Minji: "Do you not remember the music video where you insisted you wanted to dance in stilettos 'for the aesthetic'? This feels like karma."
Hanni: "Blocked."
These exchanges, though fleeting, left Minji in surprisingly good spirits. She even caught Jennie side-eyeing her several times at the office, as if her sister was waiting for an explanation about why Minji was suddenly glowing.
And then came Haerin's call.
Minji had just finished a quick workout when her phone buzzed on the counter. She grabbed it and answered, already grinning. "Haerin, if this is about me covering for you again, I'm invoicing you."
"Very funny," Haerin deadpanned. "But no, this is actually important."
Minji leaned against the counter, intrigued. "Okay, you have my attention. What's up?"
"I need you to go to Tiffany for me."
Minji paused, unsure if she heard her right. "Tiffany & Co? Are you finally buying me that necklace I've been asking for?"
Haerin groaned. "Minji, I'm serious."
"Alright, alright," Minji said, laughing. "What are we picking up?"
Haerin's voice softened, almost shy. "The engagement ring. It's ready."
Minji blinked, her teasing demeanor melting into genuine excitement. "Oh, my God! It's really happening."
"Yeah, tomorrow night," Haerin confirmed. "After the party, when it's just the two of us."
"That's amazing," Minji said, smiling. "But wait, why me? Shouldn't Hyein be doing this?"
"She was my first choice," Haerin admitted bluntly.
"Wow. Way to make a girl feel special."
"Get over it," Haerin shot back. "Hyein's stuck in a photoshoot, and I need this done today. You're the only other person I trust... Please"
Minji sighed dramatically, though her grin was still plastered on her face. "Fine. I'll let it slide because this is for love and all that."
Haerin's voice softened again, laced with nervousness. "Thanks, Minji. I owe you."
"You owe me big," Minji teased. "Like, dinner at a five-star restaurant big. Maybe even dessert."
"Don't push it," Haerin said, but Minji could hear the small laugh in her voice.
"So, how are you feeling?" Minji asked, shifting the conversation. "You nervous?"
Haerin hesitated before answering. "Honestly? Yeah. A lot."
"That's normal," Minji reassured her. "What's got you worried?"
"I don't know," Haerin admitted. "It's just... this is such a big step. What if she's not ready? What if I'm reading everything wrong and I scare her off?"
