Chapter 35:

Carl's Pov

I watch as Hailey closes her eyes.

"Hailey no!" I shout
"I heard gun-" Maggie stops because she sees Hailey
"We need to go to the infirmary" adds Maggie
I nod and pick up Hailey as we walk towards the infirmary.

When we get there I put Hailey down on a bed and look at hershel as he walks up to her.

"How did this happen?" Asks Hershel
"This guy and girl wanted to kill me and Hailey tried saving me but this happened" I say
"Carl, Maggie please go outside and give me space" says Hershel
"No I am not leaving her!" I yell
"Carl please my dad's trying to save her and what he needs is space" says Maggie
I nod in defeat as I quickly kiss her forehead and walk out.

Few hours later...

"Its safe to say she's okay but she might be in a coma for the lost of blood" says Hershel
"Thank you so much Hershel" I say as I walk into the infirmary
Hershel nods and walks out.

I pull up a chair and look at Hailey.

"You got to wake up" I whisper
She still has her eyes closed so I breath out heavily and walk out of the infirmary.

Haileys Pov

Few weeks later...

I wake up and feel a huge pain in my abdomen.

"Am I dead?" I whisper
"No honey, you were just shot and put into a coma" says hershel
I rub my head
"Carl came to see you everyday. He could never help but feel guilty for what happened" says Hershel
I nod
"Thanks hershel" I say as I get up
"You need to be careful too" says Hershel
I nod again and walk towards Daryls cell.

"Daryl!" I shout
I see him in the cafeteria eating with Beth again.
I walk over to them and sit down in front of them.

"Hey guys" I say normally
"Hailey!" Shrieks Beth
I smile when she wraps me in a hug.
"I heard about what you did." Says Daryl
I nod.
Beth finally let's go.

"I wish I was there to help you" adds Daryl
"Hey but guess what? I feel much better now" I say as I'm given a plate of food.
I eat it up quickly.

"Well that's good to hear because here comes Carl now" says Beth
I turn around and see a tired looking Carl.

He smiles when his eyes lay on me.
I smile back and get up as he walks towards me.

"I missed you" he whispers
I smile more and lean in for a kiss but I stop.
"No I can't..I can't do this. I-I can't forgive you for what you did. I'm sorry Carl" I seperate away from him and walk towards the guard tower and sit inside and pull out all the continents in the bag.

I pull merle's knife near me.

I stab the floor to the guard tower and scratch at the concrete.

R.I.P Merle Dixon

I then grab the chalk and write down words and shatter the glass bottle I put in my bag a few minutes ago.

I then move it in a heart and grab a sharp piece.

I then pull my shirt sleeve up and Mark Merle on my arm.

I toss the bottle on the floor and walk near the railing.

I lay down on the ground with the sky over my head.

Its night and I can see all the stars.

I notice a shooting star.

"I wish that I could have an iPod and at least some moonshine" I say

I smile at what I said and grab the tiny flask from my satchel.

Moonshine made by him truly.

I sip a little and put it back in my bag as I allow myself to sleep outside.
