Chapter 39:

A few days later

I stare at the blood on the ground.

Flashback

"I can't believe you!" Yells Carl angrily
"I'm sorry" I say
"Sorry won't cut it this time Hailey!" Shouts Carl
"Fine!" I say angrily as I grab my stuff angrily and start packing

"Where are you going?" Asks Carl
"Somewhere I'm wanted!" I shout as I grab everything and walk out of the prison.

End of flashback

I stand in my tree house now.

The only place where my memories still flurrish crazily but they're good memories which is good.

So far I be been living on squirrel and fruit from the woods that I planted a while back.

I look down at the plate in front of me now.

I get up and walk outside.

"Stupid apocalypse!!" I yell
I grab the plate and toss it across the woods.

"Hailey?" Asks a voice
I turn towards it and see Caiyden.
"How do you know I was here?" I ask as I notice him
"Remember a few months back." Says Caiyden

The memories hit me.

Flashback

"Okay I'm going to show you somewhere secret but you can't tell" I say
"What are you going to show us" asks Caiyden and Kevin
"My child hood tree house that merle and Daryl built for me" I say
They both smile as I show them the hidden house.

"Wow, it's awesome" says Kevin
"Because my brothers are awesome" I say
Caiyden laughs slightly and climbs the ladder.

We had fun that day because we played bored games and cards.

End of flashback

"Where's kevin?" I ask
Caiyden states at the ground when I say Kevin's name.
"There's a disease Hailey" says Caiyden
"What do you mean disease?" I ask
"People are dying and coming back. I came here to tell you that Kevin misses you and he's scared" says Caiyden as he gets closer towards me
"I can't go back Caiyden.." I whisper as I turn away
"You have to. Its about Daryl too" adds Caiyden
"What about my brother?" I ask
"He's searching for you and he hasn't been the best since you left" says Caiyden

I stare at my tree house.

"Okay" I whisper as I nod
Caiyden turns me towards him and pulls me into a hug.
"It'll be okay" he whispers
I smile slightly and knew that day that Caiyden was someone I needed.

Few hours later...

I take a deep breath as we near the place I've left a few days ago.

I stand behind Caiyden as we walk into the prison.

"Where's Daryl?" I ask
"He should be digging the graves" says Caiyden
"Where Karen?" I ask
"The two infected people?" Asks Caiyden
"Infected? With the disease? Where are they" I ask
"In these cells" says Caiyden
I nod and notice Carol walk towards the abandoned cells with gasoline.

"Um...I'll go talk to everyone. I'll see you around" I say as I speed up to follow Carol.

I take steps back as I conceal myself but still see her.

I'm taken aback when I see Karen and David.

Carol pulls out a knife and stabs it into David's head.

I stare in shock as I walk closer.

"Carol..." I whisper
She turns around in suprise.
"Don't tell anybody" she says
"You killed him.." I whisper
"I'm trying to stop the infection" says Carol
"By killing innocent people!" I yell as I walk closer

Karen jolts up at me yelling.

"Karen, go out for a minute" I say nicely
She nods uneasily.

"I just came back and I'm finding out your a killer!" I shout
"Hailey, your over reacting" says Carol
"Oh no I'm not! I don't want you any where near my big brother and if I see you near him I'll tell everyone about the monster you are" I shout as I stomp off.

I angrily walk towards the graves only to see my brother with a bandana on.

I sneak up on him as he digs.

"Hey" I say in a diffrent voice
"What do yo-" he stops when he sees me
"Hi Daryl" I say

He drops all of his stuff and runs towards me as he scoops me in a hug I've longed.

"Where the hell have you been" asks Daryl
"Long story, I've been at the tree house you guys guilty me when I was little" I say
"I went but you weren't there" says Daryl
"Hunting" I say as I look my brother over.

We both smile at each other.

"How about i show you what I brought back" I say as I grab my brothers arm and take him towards my cell.
