“I am her husband” I am stunned at his words though it's the truth, hearing it from his mouth is still shocking.

“They have just arrived, let them settle down, we can talk later” Nimesh breaks the silence glancing at his wife with unreadable expressions.

Shreesha looks at him still trying to comprehend the situation but Nimesh dismisses her before she can open her mouth again.

“Let me show you, your room” Agastya's brother tips his head at us and I have to follow behind him as Agastya is holding me by my shoulders.

Once we are in the corridor Nimesh guides us towards a room holding the door open for us to enter.

“I am sorry for my wife's behaviour, she must be surprised to see you here” The words are directed at me as Nimesh looks at me with apologetic expressions.

He too was surprised at the earlier interaction, so that must have been a surprise for him.

“It's okay, it's not your fault” I give him a small smile.

He has been nothing but respectful towards me since we met, and I haven't noticed any ulterior motive behind his actions.

“I will call you when the breakfast is ready, settle down till then” He smiles back at me and leaves us to ourselves.

I turn my attention to Agastya waiting for him to enlighten me on the earlier situation but I notice him setting up our luggage besides the bed.

“Do you want to tell me something?” I ask folding my arms in front of me observing his actions.

Agastya glances at me once before averting his gaze “She attended the same college as me” is all he says.

“There is more, isn't it?” I question. By the way she was looking at him she looked too smug seeing him here.

As if she knows something about him that no one does.

Agastya glances at me once again before he finally decides to take a step towards me.

He rounds the bed coming to stand in front of me raising both his hands to grab my shoulders.

His eyes bore into me as he looks at me intently “I know I should have told you this earlier, but- I didn't want to bring the unnecessary past-” 

A knock on the door causes us to break the eye contact as the maid informs us about the breakfast.

I nod my head at her and grab Agastya's hand following behind.

“You can tell me later, let's eat first” my stomach grumbles on cue and Agastya chuckles behind me.

The air around us shifts as we set our foot in the dining room. There is undeniable tension between the couple who are sitting a little too far from each other.

Nimesh is the first to notice us and he gives us a small smile which I automatically mirror.

Shreesha’s gaze falls on Agastya and then at our intertwined hands but soon her attention shifts as Agastya starts pulling a chair for me.

“I hope you are okay with Upma, I wasn't sure what else you would like” Nimesh says and before I can groan Agastya immediately looks at me with a teasing smile.
