I don’t notice how much time passes by as I sit on the bed numb. Staring at the floor blankly instead of getting back Aadriti from her brothers.

Everything around me doesn’t make any sense anymore now that I am all alone doing everything except trying to bring back my wife.

The memory of the first day she entered this house flashes in my mind.

Flashback

“Wow!” Aadriti exclaims in daze as she stands in the living room moving her gaze around the house taking everything in. I ignore her grabbing my bag along with me to the bedroom.

I hear her footsteps behind me as she rushes to follow along “You have a cute house” She mutters looking at me with a grin.

I drop the bag on the floor looking at her in irritation before I tip my head to her feet “Your shoes” she has very casually forgot to remove her shoes.

“Oh!” She looks down following my gaze “Sorry! Sorry!” She shouts before turning around and sprinting back from the bedroom.

I sigh, grabbing the bag from the floor and stuffing it inside the cupboard as I remove some fresh pair of clothes to change into.

As I shut the cupboard Aadriti stands there with that annoying grin of hers like this is normal, like she didn’t just force her way into my life.

I shut the cupboard louder than necessary but I don’t think it affects Aadriti much as she simply stands there clueless.

“Where are you going?” She calls out as I turn towards the bathroom and I curtly reply “To change” without turning around to look at her.

“Even I want to change” She says which stops me in my tracks. I turn around to look at her before pointing at the bathroom behind “You go first”

“You have only one bathroom?” She questions as if it's a foreign concept for her.

“How many do you want?” I ask folding my arms in front of myself.

“One is enough” She mutters nodding her head before reaching for her suitcase and taking out her clothes from it.

I slightly stare up at the ceiling with my clothes still in my hands as I wonder ‘What the hell am I doing?’ ‘Why did I bring her here?’ ‘She is literally a stranger!’

I sit on the bed arranging the reports from the Delhi conference when Aadriti plops on the bed beside me in her bunny printed night suit which consists of a full sleeve shirt and the matching pants reminding me of her age once again.

I don’t pay attention to her as she scoots closer to me peeking at the papers in my hands before I move them away from eyes, causing her to smile at me.

Why is she smiling all the time for god's sake!

“What are you doing?” She questions sheepishly as she keeps her head on her hand balancing herself on her elbow.

I gather the papers from the bed, getting up hastily as I make my way towards my study table ignoring the frown on her face.

“It's already ten. Why aren't you sleeping?” she asks clearly not getting the fact that I am ignoring her.

“I have work” I mutter a short reply focusing on the reports.

“Raat ko work kon karta hai, Raat ko to sone ka time hota hai” She mutters as she leisurely stretches herself on MY bed getting comfortable.
