Y/n's POV

With the army due to arrive in less than 4 days it now left little time for us to prepare. Esme and Jacob had managed to get the pack to agree to help us. I sat atop one of the jeeps watching Jasper and Emmett clash together in blurs of colours.

I hadn't slept much the night before, the thought that I wasn't as protected by my friends ability now worrying me slightly.

"When you're wet the mask fades." Sarah's voice echoed loudly in my head.

I thought back to all my encounters with Victoria almost every time we crossed paths. I had showered that day for whatever reason and unlike my sister, I often left the house with wet hair. We also lived in Forks which meant 9 times out of 10 if I stepped outside it would be raining.

"Y/n?" Carlisle's soft voice drew me from my thoughts. "What's wrong?" He asked as my E/c eyes connected with his. I smiled exhaling a breath of air from my nose as I jumped down off the hood of the jeep.

"Nothing." I smiled standing close to him.

"You're thinking about what Sarah said again, aren't you?" He presses, lifting my chin with his finger as I dipped it away in guilt.

"Yes." I sigh, crossing my arms. "It doesn't make sense..." I go to argue however the sound of Bella approaching cuts me short.

"What doesn't make sense?" She asked, Edward standing next to her with an arm around her waist.

I smile inwardly, shrugging my shoulders and placing my hands in the back pocket of my jeans. "Nothing, just trying to figure out why I was invited to the graduation if I wasn't going to receive my award." I lied.

"I'm sure there was just a mix up. Try not to dwell on it too much. College is overrated anyway." My sister shrugs, linking her arm with my own. "Besides there's more pressing matters to worry about." She nods her head up to the hill which overlooked the training grounds the Cullens had agreed to meet the wolves at.

Noticing the large animals standing on it, my eyes scanned through the various arrays of yellowy brown eyes and different shades of fur till they landed on a grey Wolf slightly smaller than the others.

"Hey Leah." I whisper. The animal turns her head away. A tight frown decorating my face. I had tried to contact Leah shortly before graduation. She was ignoring me, avoiding me.

Not even Seth would reply to my messages, even if he'd start typing he'd leave me to read. I turned my gaze to Seth offering a small smile when the grey Wolf growled at him.

I didn't blame Leah for the way she was treating me. I'd be pretty angry too if the person I had feelings for chose someone else over me. Not only that, I didn't exactly handle the confrontation very well.

"They don't trust us enough to be in their human forms." Edward informs upon the Cullens gathering around to face the wolves.

"They came. That's what matters. Will you translate?" Carlisle steps forward from his place besides me, placing a hand dismissively on Edwards shoulder upon his request to translate the pack's thoughts.

"Welcome." He starts addressing the wolves and holding his hands out. "Jasper has experience with newborns. He'll teach us how to defeat them." He speaks to the wolves, informing them who would be conducting the training with a subtle point towards his honey blonde haired son.

"They want to know how the newborns differ from us." Edward reiterates.

"They're a great deal stronger than us because their own human blood lingers in their tissues. Our kind is never more physically powerful than in our first several months of this life." Carlisle answers the question before stepping back allowing Jasper to take over.
