A sight of you pulling her chair with grace,
with a quiet warmth upon your face.
A laughter that rings, so light, so free—
but never once was it for me.
You tuck a loose strand from her sight,
a gesture as soft as autumn light.
Once, I dreamed you’d reach for mine,
but dreams fade with dawn’s first shine.
Beneath the rain, you shield her frame,
unbothered by the storm’s harsh flame.
Yet when I shivered beneath the night,
your hands were shadows, out of sight.
Why can't I be the light you seek,
a flame to guide you, soft and meek?
You bloom for others, but never for me—
a garden rich, yet barren I’ll be.
Why do you shine like a lantern’s glow,
a beacon for ships where wild winds blow?
Your warmth is bright, a guiding light,
yet it never reaches me in the night.
Why are you rain to a field that pleads,
a melody carried on the breeze?
But when I reach, my hands stay dry,
and your song slips by, a fleeting sigh.
You hold her close, so sure, so true,
as if the stars aligned for you.
But tell me now, and tell me why—
why not for me? Why not my sky?
