As Old as time, second part

Entrance Ceremony

They wait in the hallway until they all arrive and then they knock. I open it and they look between me and Lucian in confusion. "You two are L and Mitsuki? You're not what I expected." I simply nod while L stays silent.

It only takes them a few seconds to start introducing themselves with their real names. Bad move, the person we are trying to find uses names so if we were Kira they would all be dead. I keep my expressions clear but shake my head slightly.

When they are done introducing themselves and start to apologize for being late Lucian makes a finger gun and points to them. He then explains how they messed up. They didn't even properly confirm that we are who we say we are.

"Now then please set your phone on the table before heading to sit down." I say as Lucian heads straight to his seat.

"What? Are you expecting us to use our phones to leak information about this meeting?!" One of them says angrily.

"Not really but that doesn't mean that someone else is not using for that task. We have no way of knowing what amount of prowess Kira has with a computer. So set your devices down and come take a seat." The officer that questioned us grumbles but does what I said along with the others. Soon enough we have all taken our seats.

I sit on the arm of the seat Lucian is sitting on and observe all the officers. It does seem rather likely that we are going after someone who has gained the book belonging to a Japanese god of death but their is no use in sharing that because if that did happen I will be able to tell who it is because the gods have to follow around the person who has their book until the holder of the book gives the book up or dies. None of the people here though have anything behind them.

"So which of you is L and which of you is Mitsuki?"

"I am Mitsuki." I respond before continuing. "But it doesn't much matter because you will be calling us different names during the investigation." Lucian then fills them in on the names that they are going to use for us and all the information we have that we have yet to give them.

After he reveals that we will be looking more indepth at the people being watched during a specific period of time he reveals that he knows that no one here is Kira and gives them new IDs and belts that have a button that can be clicked if in trouble. The belt also allows us to know where they all are.

Soon after the belts are handed out we find out that there is no one at police headquarters which is not good so we send one of them back and continue to talk to the others. Soon after we send them off.

A few days after we first met with the police officers we watch over the tapes from the train station where one of the FBI agents died and it seems like he is the point of connection so we decide to look into the people he was looking into.

He was only looking into two groups of people, two families, so we put up cameras and microphones around the houses of those people and watch them. The police we are working with did not seem fond of the idea but because it had a chance to help solve the case they agreed.

The moment that the son of the officer who was in charge of helping us walked into the house I saw the god of death following him. That does not necessarily mean that he is the one killing people though so I do not tell Lucian. The son, Light, also clearly noticed that someone had been in his room because the god of death that is following him seems rather upset that he is not responding.

They leave for a bit and once they return light lays on the bed and looks at a magazine with woman posing in underwear while the god of death looks for all of the cameras.

Apparently he wanted a blind spot because he seems upset when he finds out there is not one. He tells Light where all the cameras are and then whines that because there are no blindspots he cannot eat apples. This means it is slightly more likely that Light is Kira because of the message about apples he left for Lucian.

Light spends the rest of the night studying and a few criminals still die but something feels off about the whole thing. So Lucian decides that me and him are going to take the entrance exam that Light is taking to get closer to him.

We remove the cameras after a few days and get ready for the college entrance exam. When the day arrives we go to the testing center and quickly complete the test before observing Light. One of the proctors comes by and tells Lucian to sit right but other than that the testing goes fine.

After a few days we are informed that we are accepted and will be expected to give speeches as freshmen representives. I figure I can just reword the speech that Yukio used at true cross so I do not even think about what to say.

When the day arrives I throw on a suit and persuade Lucian to wear a collared shirt. We head to the school together and take a seat next to each other as we wait for the ceremony to start.
