The tension in the courtroom was suffocating. The moment the judge ordered the arrest warrant for Namjoon, Joo-young’s smug expression returned. He stood up, straightening his tie as he turned to the judge.

“Your Honor,” he began, voice smooth but laced with arrogance. “I think it’s painfully obvious that Kim Namjoon didn’t act alone in his escape. His brothers—his entire family—are the reason he fled.”

Murmurs erupted in the courtroom, whispers of agreement and skepticism mixing in the air.

Prosecutor Choi smirked, nodding at Joo-young before gesturing toward his own lawyer, Mr. Han. “Your Honor, we would like to officially present a new argument—one that questions the involvement of Namjoon’s siblings in this obstruction of justice.”

Hoseok’s jaw clenched, but he remained silent. Jin crossed his arms, glaring daggers at Joo-young, while Yoongi sat back, seemingly indifferent, though his fingers tapped against his knee in controlled frustration.

Judge Park sighed heavily. “You may proceed, but keep it brief.”

Mr. Han stood, buttoning his suit as he addressed the court. “Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, let’s consider the facts. The moment Namjoon decided to run, his brothers and sister caused an unnecessary scene—disrupting officers, creating confusion, delaying the chase. Are we really supposed to believe this was all a coincidence?”

Jimin scoffed under his breath, but Ms. Kang, Namjoon’s defense lawyer, placed a hand on his wrist under the table, silently telling him to keep quiet.

“We are not saying they directly assisted in his escape,” Mr. Han continued, pacing slowly, his voice steady. “But their actions conveniently provided enough time for Namjoon to flee the premises. In legal terms, that is aiding and abetting a fugitive.”

Joo-young smiled, leaning back in his seat as the courtroom stirred with unease.

Ms. Kang finally stood, pushing her glasses up as she spoke with unwavering confidence. “Your Honor, the prosecution is making reckless claims with no actual proof.” She turned to the jury. “They say the Kim siblings ‘deliberately’ caused a scene, but let’s break that down, shall we?”

She walked toward the center of the courtroom, her sharp gaze landing on Mr. Han.

“Yoongi punched a wall,” she stated, pausing for effect. “Out of frustration. Was it dramatic? Yes. But is expressing frustration in court a crime?” She glanced at the judge. “Because if so, then half the lawyers in this room should be arrested.”

A few chuckles rippled through the spectators. The judge sighed, unimpressed, but he didn’t interrupt.

Ms. Kang continued. “Jimin and Taehyung tripped? Are we really accusing someone of aiding a fugitive because of an accident?” She raised an eyebrow, arms crossed. “Perhaps if the officers were better trained, they wouldn’t have been delayed by something so trivial.”
