Yazmin took a sip of her spritz drink and rested the champagne glass in the holder on the salon chair. She took a peep at her toes and smiled with satisfaction when she noticed that the woman working on her toes got the correct shaping.

"I like this," Sohpia spoke. She sat adjacent to her daughter with a glass of champagne in her hand.

"Me too."

It'd been a few days since Yazmin went back home to her mother and they spent everyday together. Whether Yazmin went with her mother to work or they went out to do something, they were always together. They were able to get to know each other better and have an understanding with one another. Their relationship wasn't going to be where they wanted it to be in such a short amount of time, but it was better late than never.

"How do you feel about leaving in a few days?"

Yazmin sighed. Just the thought of all of the work she had to do to get herself settled in, triggered her stress.

"I'm nervous and excited at the same time."

"Well, I'll be there for the first few weeks to help you get settled in."

"Yeah, that makes me feel a bit better." She nodded, "I can't wait to have my own place though."

With the help of her mother she was able to get her own apartment in Paris.

"I couldn't wait either. I was living in Spain when I was twenty-one for about three years. It was hard to adapt to the language, culture and all of that, but once I did, it was great. If you think the partying over here is a wild time, wait until you get to Europe. They know how to party and the guys were-" She kissed her fingertips and chuckled.

"How was it to leave your family?"

"It was hard at first, but I couldn't wait to get out of my parents' house. It was pretty packed with the rest of my siblings."

Yazmin wasn't even aware that her mother had siblings. She didn't speak about her childhood much or anything too personal about her. Yazmin felt so disconnected with her mother.
