Tasha POV
I storm away from him, furious, turning into a human halfway and not caring that I am stark naked.
How. The. F*ck.
He's so stupid!
I will never mate with that b*tchy dog!
He's trying to Mate with me while I'm unconscious! That b*stard!
I know, right? my wolf agrees. He's a f*cker. I bet he's f*cked like twenty girls.
Rape, more like.
B*stard.
B*stard.
I hear footsteps behind me. Doc.
"Alpha! I'm so sorry!"
"What?"
"I told him to kiss you because your heart wasn't beat-"
"You told him?"
My incredulous bark sends her cringing. I finger the scars on my face. When I had seen Raze so close to me, I'd thought that he was RTC. Honestly, he could've given some thought to my feelings!
"Your heart wasn't beating as fast enough," Doc presses on. I gesture for her to go on.
"Mates' heartbeats typically speed up whenever their Mate touches-"
"Whatever happens in the future, unless I am going to die, never let that whoremonger touch me," I snarl. She bows her head. "Yes, Alpha."
I morph back into my wolf. Gamma!
Yes, Alpha?
Were you there when he kissed me?
... Yes, Alpha.
And you let him?!
You were going to die!
I take a deep breath and paw at my head urgently. Okay. But this isn't over.
I-I'm sorry, Alpha.
Never mind. We need to find your mate.
A howl echoes through the forest, and I wince.
Really, Alpha? Really, really, really?
Yes, Gamma.
Thank you so much!
But don't you dare let him make you submit.
Of course not. I will command a duel and beat him easily.
That's my Gamma. I smile and cut off the connection. One more person to deal with.
And here he is.
Raze.
I stalk towards him, my legs shaking with fury. My pads are soundless on the ground, and I am gathering my haunches for a leap, when the wind changes, bringing my scent on it.
He turns around as a wolf right before I crash into him. Howling through his fur, I tear into his shoulder and trail hard, bloody bites along his foreleg while he writhes disbelievingly.
Are you Marking me or attacking me?
I'm attacking you.
He abruptly changes into a human before me, and I do the same.
"Why are you attacking me now?" he asks. I'm confused for a few moments - I thought he knew - then reply furiously, "F*ck you for not knowing. You have no idea how much you hurt me, do you?"
"I.... Hurt you?" Raze whimpers, his eyes flashing as his wolf yells at him.
I nod once. "When I thought you were your twin. And you kissed me. I thought I'd never been rescued and," my voice cracks as I remember. "It hurt so, so much. I- he treated me like my father had. You can't believe the pain-"
I'm cut off as he steps closer and stops me with a hug and a kiss on the head. "Shhh, you don't need to tell me."
I wipe away my tears and push him away. "The heck you think you're doing?" I yell at him.
He pushes himself off the ground. "I thought-"
"You thought wrong," I snarl. "I never need to be comforted. I'm not weak."
His eyes are golden for a moment as his wolf murmurs, "You don't need to be weak to accept comfort."
"I will never believe anything you say," I growl. "Where has trusting you gotten me?"
"Alive!" Raze retorts. I shrink into the shelter of a tree as he rages, "If I hadn't been there, you'd be dead! Your heart was barely beating! And who the hell would have rescued you?"
"Why the hell would I have needed to be rescued if I wasn't captured by your twin?" I howl. Furious, angry, psychopathic.
He steps back, his eyes darkening as I continue.
"And I wouldn't even have had all of this sh*t to deal with!" I jab my finger in his sculpted chest. Not that I care. "You- you idiotic f*cker never even gave me a day to be Alpha! I was Alpha for like, two minutes before your gang attacked!"
"I-"
"Why the hell did you attack, anyway? And who the f*ck is your twin? And I wanted to be a damn Alpha not a f*cking Luna!" I scream with rage, barely managing not to tear out my hair.
"Why does being Alpha matter so much to you?"
I sneer in his face. "Oh, probably because I'm only the second Alpha in history to command a female-Pack? And that giving up my position would make all of the females in my Pack suffer?"
He swerves onto a different topic hurriedly. "Why'd you call me a f*cker?"
"You f*ck random girls."
"I've never mated with a girl," he shoots back in reply. I growl, "But did you f*ck with any?"
"No, I did not f*ck with anyone yet."
"So you have never had a girlfriend?"
"Why do you care?"
I spit at him. "Does mate ring a bell?"
"So you think-"
"You know what? I've had enough of your cocky, egotistical, self-serving manner. If you don't sweeten the hell up, it's really, really probable I'm going to reject you."
His face pales as he stammers, "I-I've been thinking..."
A different subject. Smart.
I smirk as I use the totally overdone clichè line. "Well, that's not good."
He glares at me, then continues, "We've been having all of these fights about who should be Alpha and Luna and all that."
"And?" I humor him.
"Maybe we can do a little competition."
"A competition."
"About-"
"Why would I want to do a competition with a person who never follows the rules?"
That sounded a lot more intimidating in my head. Spoken, though, hey look! Goody Two Shoes!
"It's about- well, maybe we can compete and whoever wins will become the Alpha of both packs. Whoever loses will become the Luna."
"No f*cking way," I growl. "You're a cheat and a b*stard. I don't deal with those."
"Is this about that stupid kiss?"
"Yes, it's about that stupid kiss!" I nearly howl, but manage to restrain myself. Instead, I settle for pressing my claws into my palms.
"You were dying," he snarls. "I saved your life."
"I wouldn't have been dying if you never came into my life," I retort. Ooh, nice one, Tasha.
"That's-" he breaks off again. "We're never going to win that argument, either one of us. And besides, there can't be two Alphas in one Pack. It can't happen."
I roll my eyes. "We're mates, idiot."
His face is emotionless as he growls, "You think you can't win a competition against me?"
"Oh, I'm very competitive," I purr. "The only thing I'm worried about is slamming you into the ground so hard your bones break."
"Great," Raze mutters. Brightening up, he adds, "I'll tell you the first part of the competition tomorrow, and the second part is-"
"Let's take turns deciding parts," I interrupt, my eyes suspicious. He nods once. "Very well."
Snorting, I walk away, my mind racing. Obviously he meant to win.
But what he needed to learn was, I am just as capable of winning as he is.
And nothing is going to stop me from becoming Alpha.
