Third Person POV
"Aerum, please, just eat something," Hyun pleads with his voice soft, sitting beside her, eyes filled with deep concern for his wife.
Aerum and Hyun are having a little bit of the rough time in these past few months, ever since Jungkook and Taehyung left this home. As if them being home was the reminder that the marriage at the brink of sinking down isn't that of a big to deal with.
They were fine being strangers all these years. But since the departure of their son and son-in-law, this house seems small enough for them to see each other everyday and feel like there's nothing left to be felt.
Their relationship is taking toll on both of them. Aerum having issues accepting Jeon Hyun as her husband, the one she fell in love with in high school. And Hyun, surprisingly, being affected by his wife's ignorance, distant behaviour and persistent sadness. It is like the man just remembered his love for his wife.
"I'm not in the mood, Hyun," Aerum replies. Voice was subdued. Immersing herself in the world of fiction, only to avoid the real life failures.
Hyun sighs, shaking his head with disappointment. He states, "You are skipping meals often these days."
"I'm fine. You should go," Aerum says, turning the page to the next. A clear sign that she was indulged in the book. "You must be getting late for the office," She mutters, loud enough for her husband to hear her.
"What is up with you, Aerum?" Hyun asked with his voice a little conflicted but not raised. A serious talk happening in the library among the couple. "I'm trying to talk to you these days. We even went out for dinner yesterday. But all you are conversing with are low replies. You don't smile unless you are talking with your sons. If there is something bothering you, you should tell me. I'll take care of it." Hyun's voice felt like he was frustrated. But his voice was not raised.
No doubt, he have always loved Aerum.
Aerum smiles. "It's nice that you noticed. But no, Hyun. There is nothing."
Hyun closes his eyes, trying to keep his irritations locked and not be out on his wife. So, he holds her hand in his, caressing it, one of the ways he knows to make her comfortable with him. "Aerum," He calls softly, and such softness brought Aerum's eyes to tears. A reminder for her that she has lost that warm love by her husband.
"Please, look at me, honey." Hyun gives a kiss to the hand he was holding.
Wouldn't it have been nice if he wasn't a bad father, if he had remained the same man Aerum thought of him in high school?
Was wanting a lovely family too much for Aerum?
Aerum gulps down the emotions building in her throat. Constricting her feelings within her, she drops down the book in her lap. Her eyes covered with a thin sheet of tears look at her husband's.
And this time, she doesn't confine her longings appearing as the water in her eyes when she sees the sincerity, something from the yore.
"If something is troubling you, tell me. I will try to solve it." Aerum doesn't believe Hyun's words, but she knew she could trust him on this.
"Aerum... love..." Hyun whispers.
Aerum takes a sharp breath in.
"I'm tired, Hyun," She whispers, her voice trembling. "I don't know what it is, but I cannot be happy no matter how much I try to. There is nothing that is making me feel like it is something for me to go on. I feel pain, in my stomach as if someone is holding me back, making me crumble down. And I just want to be, let me be in my space."
