Friendship is precious, and so is love-but what happens when life throws unexpected challenges your way?
Shruti, Siddharth, and Mahika share a deep bond as best friends. While Mahika has loved Siddharth since childhood, fate has other plans-Siddhart...
Shruti feels a gush of happiness rushing through her chest as she reads Mahika's message. She's at prom night, awaiting Siddharth, who has gone to get them some drinks. As she finishes typing the message, Siddharth passes her a glass of fruit punch and notices that she's smiling.
"Kya hua? Kyun muskura rahi ho?" he asks, curious in the moment.
"Mahi got the job, see her message," she jumps on her toes.
"What?? Seriously?" he asks, his tone one of surprise.
Shruti smiles, "Haan, but Sid, she seems off. Kuch hua hai kya?" she asks.
Siddharth seems to think for a moment. "I felt so, Shruti. But maybe it's something else. Let me reply to her," he says and pulls out his phone to type a reply.
After that, they sit together as the prom slowly commences. Everyone begins to dance. Meanwhile, Siddharth extends his hand, asking her for a dance. She smiles, places her hand in his, and they slowly walk toward the dance floor. Shruti glances at him; they're so close that her heartbeat races, and she can hear it loudly. After a brief dance, they sit at a table, facing each other. Meanwhile, the waiter comes with coffee and snacks, which they accept graciously. While sipping her coffee, Shruti looks at Siddharth.
"Sid, tum kal keh rahe they ki tumhe kuch kehna hai, batao na," Shruti asks, her tone soft. Siddharth looks at Shruti; a small smile makes its way to his lips. "Haan Shruti, mujhe tumse kuch kehna tha," he says, his tone soft.
"Haan, toh bolo na," she asks, curious to know what he has to say.
Siddharth looks around. He finds everyone busy dancing. He looks at her and asks if they can take a stroll in the hotel garden. She's confused but agrees. He leads her out of the auditorium and into the garden. As they stroll around, Shruti gazes at him. He's lost in thoughts, perhaps trying to find the right words to share his heart.
Shruti smiles. As if reading his mind, she walks up to him and holds his hand. "Sid, kya baat hai? Tum kya soch rahe ho? Kuch kehna hai?" she asks, her gaze soft and filled with understanding.
"Han... han, Shruti, vo mujhe tumse kuch zaroori baat karni thi. Lekin pehle mujhe batao, tumhe kaise pata main kuch kehna chahta hoon," he asks, unaware that she has already read him completely.
"Simple hai, Sid! Jab tum kuch bolte ho, tum kabhi nahi sochte, par aaj tum soch rahe ho, Siddharth. Bas isliye mujhe pata chala," she smiles softly. Siddharth is touched. He holds Shruti's hands in his.
"Hmm, ye toh tumne thik samjha, Shru. Mujhe lagta hai tum mujhe mujhse zyada jaanne lagi ho," he says, his tone gentle.
Shruti nods, encouraging him to speak further. She knows he has something in store for her, and she's sure of it. She again calls his name and asks him to continue.
"Sid, bolo naa! Kya hua? Tum kal ki tarah phir jhijhak rahe ho, bolo kya hua?" she asks, her heart shuddering in her chest.
Siddharth takes a deep breath and gazes at Shruti. "Shruti, I don't know how to say it, neither do I know if you feel it or not. But you're different, Shru! I mean, mujhe laga tha sirf Mahika can boss me around, or only she affects me, but you're affecting me in a different manner," he says, his tone wavering slightly.
"Matlab? Main samjhi nahi, Sid? Kya bol rahe ho?" she asks, clearly amused by his choice of words.
Siddharth stays silent for some time, and then, as if gathering all his courage, he looks at her again-this time in her eyes. "Shru, tum mere aur Mahika ke sath aise ghulmil gai ho jaise pehle se hamare sath rahi ho. Ab toh Mahi kayi baatein tumse karti hai aur mujhse nahi. Par apart from this, Shru, you're affecting me. You were right, tumhare aur Mahi ke bina mera koi kaam nahi ban sakta, Shruti. Aur isliye main aaj yahan hoon," he says.
She stands still, staring at him. She didn't anticipate this coming her way. She nods her head, allowing him to continue.
"Shruti, you've made a space in my heart as well. Mahi has always been a part of my life, but you're the one I never knew I needed. I know, you might not feel it this way, but I have started to like you, Shruti-maybe, it's love. Because you seem to be different," he says, finally addressing his feelings as love.
Shruti stands, her mouth agape, her eyes wide. She didn't know he felt the same. She takes a few seconds to process his words. Meanwhile, Siddharth's voice falls in her ears.
"Pehle log kehte they ki Mahi and I make a good couple, maybe I believed it too, but with you coming into our lives, things have changed, Shru. You're different, you care, and Mahi does the same, but you are the one I've been searching for," he says gently.
"And now, I realise, I love you, Shruti. I really do," he confesses, finally.
Shruti looks at Siddharth, her eyes welling up with tears. She didn't think she wouldn't need to say anything-he'd say everything in one moment. She smiles.
"Sid, I am overwhelmed. Main-mujhe nahi pata kya kahun? I feel the same. I've liked you the very instance I saw you. But then..." she pauses in the middle.

"But then I learned of your bond with Mahika. Mujhe laga you might like her," she confesses the only reason for her insecurity.
"But I never said that," he interrupts, making her smile.
"Yeah, I thought of confessing to you, but here I am, totally surprised," she says, pauses, and looks at him.
She walks closer to him, holds his hands in hers. "I love you, Sid. I didn't know this moment would come this soon, but yeah, I do love you," she says, her tone soft.
In the next instant, Siddharth embraces her in his arms, and Shruti rests her head against his chest. They stay like that for many moments. It seems they've finally found love, and nothing is more precious than their love for each other.
In the next instant, they part from the hug, and Siddharth's next action leaves Shruti happily stunned.
