"Why won't they just quit?"

Terragroup headquarters, London. Chief Executive Officer of one of the most hated companies in the world right now, Oliver Fox stood before the Terragroup board of directors. Oliver was a man of average build, in his late 50s, with greying blonde slick back hair and a goatee.

His back was turned, staring out the window to observe several dozen protestors doing what they do best outside of the building. They were almost like ants in his eyes literally. He was on the hundredth floor of the headquarters building, which was a skyscraper. Even though he could barely make out the shapes of humans, their words and presence were a constant reminder of the failure that was their endeavours in Tarkov.

People still remembered, people still cared, and people still wanted blood to be spilt in the name of justice, all while the shareholders chambered for security desperately for the profit they would make from the corporation. It may not be as much as when it all went down. Several world events like Israel doing its usual thing, or Ukraine has turned public attention away.

Oliver turned back around to face his board of directors and several of the most prominent shareholders that have significant stakes in the company. About two dozen men all dressed in business professional tailor made suits and ties looked back at him eager to hear what he had to say to further ease the issue into a more profitable one so to say. The only thing was that he was a bearer of bad news this time. All the men wer around a long rectangular mahogany table with the company logo burned into the middle.

"Well...gentlemen..." He clasped his hands together and walked towards the table they were all sat at.

"I have called this company meeting today to discuss a few things and to update you all on a few of our measures...firstly I'd like to hear from our Chief Marketing Officer Joseph Max about our...damage mitigation campaign."

"Thank you, sir..." Joseph Max stood up, adjusting his blazer to look straight and flat on his person.

"With advancements into AI, our marketing team have been able to upgrade our operations to shift the public eye away from our company more efficiently. Affiliated news has been pushing more and more news from major conflicts around the world, blaming both parties to drive public outrage to a maximum." Several grunts and nods of acknowledgements came from the board of directors in the space Joseph gave for them to process it all.

"We also even have contracted chinese-"

"Oliver cut to the damn chase already. I think we're smart enough to realize that we aren't here to listen about how normal operations are going. You called us here for a reason. This isn't a scheduled board of directors meeting after all." Peterson Josham stood up loudly, objecting to what was going on. He was one of the biggest stakeholders of the company, and his opinion seemed to be shared by all the other shareholders as they darted gazes right at Oliver. The man was fat. He had a large rotund belly, indicating he was a well-fed man. Peterson had to push himself up onto his feet when he objected while the buttons on his shirt held on for dear life.

"If you want the truth, then I will give you it." Smug look painted each of the shareholders faces collectively. Peterson sat back down, his bald head glistening from the sunlight.

"We have an experimental technology breach."

The faces of everybody instantly drained of all colour as the words left Oliver's mouth, all except the Chief Technology Officer Benjamin Garvey, the only man who wasn't of white ancestry in the room. He stuck out like a sore thumb for being a black American amongst mostly Europeans and adjacent nationalities.

"Fuck you mean fuckin technology brech you fuckin cunt?!?!" A Australian shareholder named Chris Blake shouts out in outrage.

"Well, it's simple." Benjamin interjected not wishing for the shareholders and other directors to devolve into a mindless rabble that only threw insults at Oliver Fox.

"A few days ago, we detected an alert that one of our devices for interdimensional travel had activated from our labs location under Tarkov city. A few hours later, another device activated this time from our suburbs' lab location."

"What is the meaning of this?! THAT TECH WAS THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF CLASSIFIED!!!" The Chief Operations Officer Joseph Velente screamed out loud, demanding to know slamming his clenched fist into the table.

"That's not all, Mr Velente. Several hours later, our researchers detected another device activating in another dimension followed by a violent tear in the multiverse. Thankfully, the universe has fixed itself but...we don't know what can happen next. Any number of possibilities could be happening now, including the Louise Ordunia Theory." Benjamin explained further.

"Wait, what? What now?" Oliver Fox quickly latched onto the final thing Benjamin mentioned. He was never told about a specific theory that could become a reality as a result of what was happening.

"It's a theory that states that the universe is like how stuff drops into water. They create ripples, all the multidimensional stuff happening is creating new universes that interact with those currently existing. Usually the ripples are nothing but if there's too many...they start bumping around left right and center more and more when new verses are created in succession."

"What the..." Oliver was just completely dumbfounded.

"I'm getting sidetracked, I do have a PHD in quantum physics afterall so this is my natural speciality."

"Right right as you were..."

"All I'm saying is this bad for us especially. One, someone has and knows about our technology, two they are using it, three they probably know what our plans were and what we used this technology for which oh boy there's alot...enough to send the whole company to all seven layers of hell for life, and finally four this information could leak to competitors and the public. I can list over twenty competitors who could use this technology real bad."

"So then what do you suggest we do mate? I mean this whole arse situation I pretty fucked if you ask me. I might as well get kicked by a kanga right in the bloody jaw than this shit." Chris Blake leans back into his chair expecting a answer from either man standing up right now while Benjamin sat down onto his seat once more further adjusting himself to attain maximum comfort.

"We have the black division looking for whoever is doing this shit. Remember we've done this before, our guys on the ground have the connections and capabilities to hunt. Additionally the peacekeepers are mostly on our side. We have considerable influence over most of their guys."

A silence fell upon everyone following Oliver's resolution to the problem, but something still wasn't so quite right...

"Wait if everything is all good why call for us...?" Peterson speaks up again, he was suspecting there was a ulterior motive to the ulterior motives since why call them out here if he already had a solution to it all.

"You fucker...your threatening us?" A shareholder who had remained silent for the whole ordeal named Robert Pritch questioned having come to the same conclusion that Peterson had.

"I think this meeting is over." Oliver plainly stated while adjusting his cuffs.

"You..."

"What do you have to worry about Robert? I already said black division will find the people responsible and make sure they dissapear." He looks at him, a uncanny grin painted on his face that was powerful enough to make Robert sit back down. Somebody was gonna die. And soon.
