Chapter 67.2: Event Horizon

"Keep running! DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON YOU HEAR ME!!!" Moron screamed looking behind as everyone engaged in a full sprint down the shopping streets and corridor. Behind him was Akula, Ruby, Weiss, and Neo in full sprint as if it was a marathon.

The place was crawling with scavs everywhere and they were still on the first floor desperately trying to find a way into the car park. They weren't even fighting at this point, just running, bullets flying by as they dodged and weaved. The more they ran the more scavs went after them and they were communicating as well creating a fucked up snowball effect. It was only a matter of time that guy leading them all appeared and there was no telling what heights his rage will reach.

Luckily for them they found that the scavs were still flowing into the mall from the entrance so it wasn't the full number in pursuit of them yet. This was both a blessing and very much a curse as they all knew there would be undoubtedly more of them.

"Down there! Follow me!" Akula yells at everybody spotting a slanted moving walkway escalator leading down into the underground car parking garage. Very quickly he slides to the side of the escalator and whips out his rifle from its sling providing cover fire at scavs pursuing them from a knelt down position. Moron too slowed his pace down letting the girls move down first as he too sent some pot shots over the way at the scavs shooting down from the second floor railings.

"Akula get the fuck down there with them!" Moron orders.

"No you go first!" Akula outright defies showing no compromise.

"But- screw it! Okay okay! Just follow my back quickly!" Moron relented seeing jo point wasting time arguing the matter. He descends first sliding down the escalator quickly with Akula walking backwards and them turning around to run down when such movement became untenable due to the incline angle.

Several of the more normal and dim witted scavs quickly followed them down but Ruby and Neo who were looking out at the floor above from below covering Moron and Akula as they slid down opened fire at the scavs. The first man was shot in his privates and instantly collapsed falling down while the next scav directly behind them was shot in the lungs meeting a similar fate. This blocked the right escalator with the 2 bodies of both dead men slumped together forcing the others up.

That was when a more intelligent and higher ranking scav yelled at them to get back up. Everything went silent save for the persistent footsteps above giving them the opportunity for breather as the group migrated to behind the escalator so as to not be spotted. Looking around at the endless concrete sea of parked cars and roads there was no indication of where the entrance to the laboratory could be. There was some lights, dim and yellowing, but alot of the carpark was dark. They could feel the humidity too and beads of sweat began to run down their heads.

Inside the laboratory again, Texas and Floridaman still were holding out but having done the annoucement already Texas had joined the fight clutching his rifle in cover behind a overturned table. The gunfire had stopped and now they were in some sort of weird mexican standoff siege with the scavs outside. They were limited on ammo and there was no point in firing blindly at nothing.

Outside several brave scavs were attempting to solve the issue of intruders quickly. They had just received word of more intruders and orders to go help contain that mess rather than so many of them stuck here in a dead lock. Seeing the chance of them breaking out as soon as they noticed there was less of them, they moved to resolve this problem and then deal with the new one althoughsome had already left for the mall. Texas had noticed this too with the window looking down into the entrance they came in from and was bidding for a opportunity to break out.

4 brave men in total would try to sneak up to the door and breach the room. They were in a line crouch walking towards the door. Little did they know Floridaman was on the other side of the wall directly anticipating anything. It was when one of the men sneaking up had his pager go off beeping loudly. This triggered a domino effect of men swearing at him, the entire ruse had fallen apart and Floridaman in swift retribution opened fire blinding by blind firing outside striking the front most 2 scavs in the bodies and limbs.
