"I fucking hate these chips." Was what Moron mumbled with his mouth full of them ironically as he dug his hand fully into a can of Pringles Pizza flavoured chips. Everyone had stuffed themselves into the apartment in the end as Texas and Floridaman took it upon themselves to cut the tree down after resting a short while. The girls had moved into the veteran's bedroom while Akula and Moron both sat on the man's sofa.
"Well you are eating them, by the dozen I might add." Akula pointed out the contradiction hastily as he read an old soviet plane magazine not even batting an eye towards Moron.
"Yeah well, it's the last potato-related foodstuffs we brought along and I'm starving for potatoes."
"That ain't real potatoes," Akula informed turning the page on his magazine staring at a really sexy photo of a MiG-21 jet fighter aircraft belonging to the Bulgarian Air Force.
"It's some weird starch paste pressed into the shape of a potato. Sure it's technically made from potatoes but it's more processed than one of those American cheese-related snacks not to mention the pizza flavouring." As Akula rambled on as Moron humoured his niche knowledge checking the back of the can where a nutritional factsheet per serving and a list of ingredients were present.
"Yeah...I'm not reading anything suggesting this is fried thin slices of potato."
"When we get back to remnant we gotta get our food taste reacquainted. Can't be grovelling non-perishables like this shit. I want my mother fuckin toasted potato bread again!"
"Come to think about it... It's been quite a while and we haven't heard the explosion yet." Moron puts down his can of Pringles not before capping the can with its respective lid and walking up to the window.
"No sign of them...strange..." his eyes drifted everywhere around the tree eventually spotting the signs of foul play and a struggle.
"Hey, you're gonna want to see this shit." Moron quickly gestured Akula over with his hand peering out the window to see more trying his absolute best to find where Texas and Floridaman were.
Dropping his magazine, on the couch he gets up and looks with Moron pointing out the evidence that something has gone terribly wrong with their tree-cutting operation. While looking for any signs of their friends they began to see more and more that worried them to the core. There was blood splatter, the explosives rigged to the tree trunk were still there, and both Texas and Floridaman's weapons were just left abandoned on the floor.
"We need to get down there. Now." Moron informs quickly quickly grabbing his equipment and putting them on as hastily as possible.
"Agreed, I'll get the girls."
The last few god knows what amount of time has been hazy for Texas. All he remembered was getting overwhelmed by those scavs and being knocked out by something to the face while trying to blow the tree down with explosives. His bottom and calves were sore and his arms ached as if they'd been pulling his entire bodyweight for so long. Luckily nobody was actively grabbing him right now so he hoped and prayed it was only a robbery and nothing else had happened. Instinctively he moves to get up from the ground but quickly finds that his left arm is bound by handcuffs to something mounted on the wall behind him. The sound of the cuff's chains rattling against the cold concrete floor quickly alerts everyone in the room that he is awake.
"Texas...you're awake...?" Floridaman asked as Texas sat up against the wall as his vision got more and clearer. It was a shock that Floridaman looked terrible, he had been stripped of all equipment and looked to have been beaten repeatedly with bruises all over his face. He too was handcuffed to a heavy-looking metal table with had so much random office stuff piled onto the top he couldn't move. Looking around the both of them looked to be in a derelict office room with a single doorway that didn't even have a door attached to its hinges.
