"I know you all are tired but we have to keep going. When we find shelter we all can take a much-needed break so just hold on girls." Texas attempted to coddle everyone as he turned his head around to look at the rest of his group.
It had been a long time since they had the chance to rest, and everyone had lost track of how long they had been up for. It must've been up to 12 hours they have been up for or felt like it since it was only evening and the sun was setting. After being attacked they abandoned their hideout taking whatever was needed to survive for the next few days only alongside whatever personal belongings they wanted. Everything else was simply left behind probably never to be used again rotting with the dead bodies down there too.
It also sucked that all their work taking jobs from traders for food was pretty much for nothing since they also had to leave a lot of it behind. Morale was now at an all-time low and everyone was miserable but they had to keep going. They had no other choice but to. The group had taken all sorts of whimsical twists and turns to lose the trace of any potential Black Division pursuers that may be tracing them. Texas had checked the dead bodies finding they were the 19th Detachment. One could quickly conclude they would eventually have to deal with the other 18 squads and any further squads beyond the number 19.
Whatever it was too would be greater in both number and capabilities. As such they had taken a convoluted path which would throw any pursuer off their trail making sure to avoid populated areas where people could see them. This dragged the journey to the suburbs out but eventually they made it. Walking down an overgrown cracked road past rows of abandoned commie blocks since the start of the conflict, the group could only feel a sense of tiredness washing down on them all.
They were in the suburbs, they had made it, but now they all had to find a place to rest. A nice secure location that ideally was far off from any known potential groups that could bother them. The roads were all small two-lane roads and there was only so much they could see far ahead. From the looks of things the area ahead was a continuation of the rows of brutalist commie blocks before ending in some foliage and then more traditional landed homes.
"Fuck this is the suburbs alright but I got no clue where we are exactly," Floridaman commented.
"Did we check the street name?" Moron asked also unsure of his bearing.
"It's... it's...uh...Vladimir Lenin Street..." Ruby tries to wrap her tongue around Lenin's name. It was strange to her, the name was completely different from how Remnant names and linguistics worked.
"Well fuck there's probably five streets carrying that bald bastard's name in this fucking suburb." Texas cursed stopping to look at all the street directional signs located conveniently at a four-way junction. Everyone else stopped behind him consolidating at the location. On the arrow pointed forward and behind it was just Vladimir Lenin Street, the streets to their right and left however were aptly named Nikolay Street and Lebed Street.
"Hey...that's Nikolay Street. It was on the edge of the map we looked over." Moron commented pointing to the aforementioned street sign.
"That's fuckin terrific! I can finally rest my damn legs!" Floridaman exclaimed.
"You hear that Weiss? We can finally rest." Ruby came up behind her white haired best friend, a soft smile on her dirty soot soot-covered face she never got the opportunity to wash the dirt off following the fight. Ruby didn't like to see her friend down like that, she'd practically been down the whole time since arriving on Earth becoming more timid and scared yet this time Ruby could tell she was really down. It was like her mind was shackled to the horror of everything happening around her.
"Y-yeah Rubes...thanks for trying to cheer me up." She looked up to her, her eyes meeting hers.
"I think we can take refuge in one of these apartments," Texas suggested looking up at the rows of 5-story high grey drab brutalist commie blocks trying to gauge what the difference and comfort level of camping out in one of those was.
