Every one of the 4 men had been here before, some more than others, but they all had indeed. Texas, Floridaman, Moron, and Akula all stood at the other outer end of the large blast door that sealed Mechanic in his little gun-customising paradise from the outside world. The door was shut sealed shut and probably locked, considering how Mechanic usually had the door wide open, inviting anybody who wished for his services in, so he must be doing something private in there.
Inside Mechanic was working on an HK-416 that a customer had dropped off for him, he hadn't looked at the monitor displaying the camera system linked monitors since he'd just been so engrossed with his gun work. It was like a symphony to him, a Library of Alexandria, but instead of scrolls, it was gun parts and modifications all at his disposal to create a weapon that was suited to the customer's needs. He was a tailor, but instead of sewing and cutting fabrics, he was in the business of blood and iron. It didn't hurt to check once in a while, though, and he looked up to his right where an array of monitors displaying the security system of his hideout was present.
Four men waited at his door just talking to each other. One looked up at the camera now and then. He knew the three mercenaries, Texas, Floridaman, and Moron. The last one he didn't know, though, looked to be a scav raider judging by his uniform. Only the raiders dressed like that organised gangs of more trained individuals that stuck together comprised of ex-military, police, civil authorities, veterans, mercenaries, and those that could fight. However, he didn't think they knew he was open, or maybe they were loitering around, which was suspicious.
Mechanic was about to reach for a heavily modded-out shotgun underneath his desk for security when Texas knocked on the heavy blast door. Now he knew they weren't gonna jump him for whatever reason. He gets up from the desk and moves to the system, controlling the security system, turning on a microphone linked up to a speaker at the door and bringing it near his mouth before speaking.
"Come in, I'm open. I know it's you already, so why do you knock?"
The men on the other side were all shocked by the revelation, and instantly, the door to his gunsmithing abode opened with mixed emotions plastered upon their faces as they entered in. Mechanic simply acknowledged their existence and went back to his desk to continue his work.
"Mechanic..." Texas sat down on the empty soviet era wooden chair next to him, the same one he had just a few days ago and months ago at the same time. It was a strange feeling, how technically Mechanic had lived his life for a few days doing his usual while Texas and friends lived out whole months in a parallel dimension experiencing what was not even possible on earth.
"Yes Texas, what are you here for?" He asked, not taking his eye off, removing the pistol grip of the HK-416 via a screw down the middle of the shaft.
"Remember that folder?"
"Ah yes, I remember, How did that mission go with Peacekeeper? I hear the reward is what scavs and mercs dream about all day here." Once he got the pistol grip off, he set it aside and took another one that was made out of skeletized metal set aside on the table into his hand.
"I'll be real with you, Mechanic. Shit. We need the location for another lab to get another device."
Texas's request piqued his curiosity, and he fishes the black and gold Terragroup folder from the desk drawer shuffling away other random paper junk to reveal its appearance. It was just as the three mercenaries had last seen it, a deja vu effect unlike any other. For Akula, this was the first time he'd seen it. The others had mentioned the folder before, but to see it was different. In all his time living in the labs as a member of his now long-dead raider gang, they scoured the location, finding many documents and intelligence folders left behind by the personnel working at the labs.
