(TOXIC MIGUEL, TOXIC MIGUELLLLL)

You sat at home in your apartment sitting at the table with your daughter. You helped her with her homework, taking it slow. She was only six after all.

You heard the front door open and looked up to see Miguel. He looked pissed off and you could tell he had already been drinking.

You ran your hand through your daughters hair with a small smile.

'Why don't you go put all your stuff away, huh?' you said. But, once she saw her father she got excited and ran forward. You quickly rushed and grabbed her, looking at Miguel.

'What, love? Scared I'll hurt her? You think that little of me?' he growled, stepping forward.

'Papa...?' she questioned a little as Miguel looked down at her.

'It's fine, little one. Your mother just doesn't like me being near you,' he said. You looked at him with betrayal in your eyes as Gabi ran forward and hugged her father. He glared at you while he hugged her tightly.

'See, sweetheart? It's just your paranoia again,' he said. You looked at him nervously before he stood up from hugging Gabi.

'Head to your room, sweetheart. I just need to talk to Momma,' he said as Gabi ran off to her room. He smiled and stepped forward.

'Why do you look so scared, baby? You always do this, sweetie. You still taking your medication?' he asked. His tone was condescending as he stepped forward and gently held your hips.

'Y-Yes... I'm still taking it,' you muttered as he nodded. He reached up and held your face.

'Such a good girl, aren't you? Taking such good care of our daughter and the apartment,' he said. He leaned in and kissed you softly.

'Can you go get me a drink and start dinner, baby girl?' he asked. You nodded, keeping on a brave face before leaving to go to the kitchen. You were just relieved he wasn't too angry.

You poured a drink for Miguel before giving it to him where he sat on the couch. Gabi came out and sat next to him, talking to him about school as you watched them cautiously. You knew Miguel would never hurt her, but you also knew even him shouting at her would cause her to be upset.

Once you finished you set the table and dished up, calling out to Miguel and Gabi.

Miguel stood beside you and wrapped an arm around your waist.

'It looks perfect, sweetheart,' he whispered, kissing your neck.

'Thank you, love.'

You felt tense most of the time, hoping Miguel would like the dinner you made for him.

'Momma?' Gabi said. You snapped out of your thoughts and looked at her.

'Yeah, baby?'

'You look sad,' she said. You glanced at Miguel to see him glaring at you as a warning.

'I'm not sad, sweetie. I was just lost in thought, that's all,' you said. You tried hard to keep your smile up. You felt Miguel's hand squeeze your thigh under the table.

Gabi seemed to buy your excuse and went back to eating happily.

'You made such a good dinner for us, my love,' he said. His hand gently rubbing your thigh. He seemed genuinely happy, so that was a plus.

After cleaning up and putting Gabi to bed you sat beside Miguel on the couch. Your eyes traveling to a lipstick mark on the collar of his shirt as he drank some whiskey.

You looked at him sadly but quickly ignored it. You didn't need to bring it up, just make sure Gabi didn't question it.

'It was just some girl, okay? I was drunk,' he grumbled. You leaned against him with a pained smile.

'It's okay,' you whispered.

It was never okay, but the thought of being alone was enough to keep you here with someone like Miguel.

Maybe you could ignore a few things in order for Gabi to have a good childhood.
