Onika POV
1 month Later
Los Angles, CA

"Well the wedding is in 6 months, the turn around for the dress is usually 8 months. But I'm sure Vera Wang can understand that my daughter in law needs this dress in the allotted time frame." Tina fussed.

I was standing on a mini podium being tugged left and right by a seamstress taking my measurements. I was hungry as hell and just wanted this to be over with.

I signed. "Mama T it's not a big deal...I can get a dress from any local shop. It doesn't haven't to be Vera Wang. I'm satisfied with the first dress I fall in love with."

Both my mom and Tina looked at me like I had grown three heads. This wedding has been the topic of conversation ever since that ring slipped on my finger. And to be honest, I was tired of it. I just wanted a simple I do, surrounded by family and friends. But no, everyone wanted something grand, something upscale. The media was even anticipating since we took our engagement photos. Who knew that a simple life accomplishment posted to our instagram accounts would cause such a frenzy. Now my mom and Tina were making it their mission to bankrupt Beyoncé for the wedding of their dreams.

"Baby, if Vera Wang agreed to do your dress in the first place, it's only right that she gets it to us in time to complete all the necessary altercations." Tina stressed.

I invisibly rolled my eyes, looking over at my wedding planner Nia. She gave me a knowing look because she knew exactly how I felt about everything. It wasn't that I didn't want a wedding it was the timing of it all. I just finished my fellowship and started working on my own as a cardiac surgeon and that was stressful as is. I wasn't a baby shark no more, I was the big shark that baby sharks came to for answers.

Not only that we just moved to L.A, the kids were still adjusting and Blue was taking it the hardest. She was acting out in ways I've never seen before. And instead of Beyoncé dealing with it they just straight up ignored each other. It was like I was walking on eggshells around both of them in our own home. Beyoncé was back at work, mostly taking on complex cases and still running her company for the L.A office. She made time for us but with both of our conflicting schedules we barely saw one another. I just felt like my world was shifting under my feet and the pressure of this wedding on top of that was about to drive me insane.

I endured another two hours of my mom and Tina going back and forth over floral arrangements. I was so glad when Solo showed up and basically kidnapped me from them.

"Damn I know you're mad as fuck, you basically spent your entire day off to talk about flowers and shit."

I rolled my eyes to the ceiling of the car. "Solo you don't want to know the half of it. They're both driving me crazy."

"Girl I know and momma is so invested you don't even need a wedding planner. Don't worry she did the same thing to me."

"Like oh my God, at this point I just want to run away to Vegas to a cheap ass church and say I do."

"Listen, I don't blame you. But you know your mom and mine not going for that. Just let them do their thing and you just show up. That's what Juju is doing. She literally gave them her black card and said she wants no parts."

I sighed sinking down into the seat. "Where is your sister anyway?"

"Last time I seen her she was in the hall screaming at a resident. I think she has a case in the O.R around 4pm, so that means we can get some drinkssss! I need it right now Lauren been up my ass about committing."

I turned my body toward her. "And is that so bad?"

Solo sighed pulling up to the valet parking at upscale bar downtown.
