Desiré's pov

Yes, my name is Y/n. My last name is Desiré. I am a different version of you, coming from another dimension. You're way more powerful and aware than me though, but I guess I am more emotionally resistant.

You see, ever since I was born, I thought I was normal. I was an only child of a great man and a great woman. I loved my parents. They were normal humans, like everyone else around me. So, I thought I was a normal human as well.

That was until I realized I stopped growing. When I was... what? 20? 30? Younger? Don't really know anymore. I just stopped aging. I thought I just had a really good metabolism or something. Then it started getting weird. How was I 50... 60... 70... 80... 90... 100... Yet I never fricking aged?

I had tried to see doctors before, but none found anything, so I guess I just had to face it... I was immortal. Cool, you think? I wouldn't necessarily say so. Like most people, I saw my grandparents die, as well as my parents. Also my aunts and uncles. But I also had to live while all my friends and cousins died before me. Even people I saw being born eventually died while I had to stay.

You think that's a funny thing? Yeah, I got depressed for a while, isolated myself cause what's the point of building bonds and relations if I was bound to end up alone again anyway? It is during that time that I learned to use my powers and travel between dimensions. That's when I understood something.

I don't need to be alone. I can make millions and billions of connections, without ever holding one over the other. That way, if I lose one, I can just pass to the other. No more heartbreak, no more loss, no more loneliness, no more sadness.

That was fine for a while. Then I saw... him.

"Ugh." I grunted.

"What's the matter, Desiré?" My girl friend, I don't even remember her name anymore, asked me.

"You know my ex girl."

"The stalkerish one?"

"Yeah. She found my number and socials again."

"Yeesh. How does she even do that?"

"I don't know, man. Like, last time, I was on a date with a guy, and she managed to find us and crash it. I didn't even get laid that night." I huffed.

"Poor, horny baby." She patted my head.

"I mean, if you want to comfort me-"

"In your dreams." She cut me off.

I pouted "Meanie. I was just kidding. but you could have at least pretended to be a little embarrassed."

"I like you, Y/n. But I'll only ever fall in love with fictional characters." She wiggled her phone in front of me "Way less disappointing than real life."

"Alright, you weeb." I snatch her phone "What's the nerdy ish this time?"

"Twisted Wonderland!" She exclaimed "Ngl, I thought it was a dating sim at first, but turns out it's a rhythm game. Still, the characters are so pretty~ And it's so cool how it's based off Disney villains."

I half listened to her while scrolling through her gallery. It's full of fanarts about this game. I'm not the kind to fall for fictional characters, but I can appreciate aesthetic "... Ah. She's pretty cute." I stop on a picture.

The picture was of a person with short black hair and magenta highlights. I had assumed they were a vampire because of the red eyes with vertical slits, fangs and pointy ears. But more importantly, I had assumed that was a girl.

And when my friend peeked over at the screen, she snorted "That's not a She. His name is Lilia Vanrouge."

"Uh... the name doesn't help." I gave her a deadpanned look.
