Life would be so much easier if I didn't have a heart...
"Huh?" Ace and Deuce opened their eyes after hearing the strange voice. They found themselves in a weird room; it was see-through, as if made out of glass and outside, it looked like space.
"What the heck?/Where are we?" They both exclaimed in panic at the same time and took a step, only to be stopped by what seemed to be a forcefield.
"What...?" Deuce knocked on it to test its resistance.
The forcefield acted like a barrier separating the right side of the room and the left side of it: Deuce was stuck on the right and Ace on the left.
Ace tried to use his magic but found that he couldn't "Seriously?" He tried punching the forcefield but it just hurt his knuckles a bit and he rubbed it "Dammit." There was no way around it and it had 0 weak spot.
They stayed silent, lost and confused until Deuce asked "What now?"
Ace pursed his lips and looked around to see a doorway on each side of the room "Should we try those?" There seemed to be light on the right but the one on the left seemed dark.
"Are you sure?" Deuce asked, unsure.
"I mean, what other choice do we have apart from staying stuck in this strange room forever?" Ace kicked the forcefield that still didn't budge. He let out a sigh "It's not like we have any way to reach each other any way."
Deuce pondered for a moment and rubbed the back of his neck "Fine. But if any of us runs into trouble or finds an exit, we immediately come back here."
"Fine, fine." Ace waved as he turned away and casually walked into the dark hall.
Deuce lightly shook his head and stilled himself before entering the light filled hallway, more warily than his friend.
You should be afraid of me.
Light
Deuce slowly walked through the white hallway. It was narrow and so long he couldn't see the end of it. He couldn't even pinpoint the source of the light but it was getting brighter and brighter the more he advanced.
He put a hand over his eyes and had to squint his eyes at some point. He eventually had to close his eyes entirely. He walked a little longer before stopping 'I can't see at all. That can't be good. I should probably go back.'
And so he turned around and started walking back the way he walked in. He still couldn't open his eyes because of the light though, he could still feel how bright it was even with his eyes closed.
5 minutes...
10 minutes...
30 minutes...
...
He paused 'I didn't walk all this time the first time...' Confused and a little nervous, he tried to think if he made a wrong move maybe.
Remembering how narrow the hallway was, Deuce extended his hand on the right and took some step in that direction to touch the wall and possibly use it to feel his way around since he can't see... But he couldn't feel any wall at all.
That was clearly weird. He panicked, flailing his arms and moving around trying to feel anything only to touch nothing 'Am I going to be stuck here forever?! What do I do?!'
He kneeled down, joined his hands and took deep breaths to try and calm himself down 'Should I... open my eyes? But what will happen if you do? You know you could go blind because of the light, right? Or it could make your brain explode. Or your eyes could burn. Better yet, what if you do nothing and the lights gets brighter and warmer and you end up getting cooked in place. Funny, right?'
