"Yes..." Lilia fully leaned against their back then "Mind you the senate was still mad at me for hatching the dragon egg. But I asked Lady Maleficia to keep all of this between us, I didn't want Malleus to feel indeb... Dove, are you shaking?"

"I'm not..." Y/n denied, shoulders actually trembling.

"... Your voice sounds watery." Lilia remarked.

"Shut up..."

He smiled then and turned them back to face him. They were indeed crying, tears streaming down their face "There, there, dove." He gently cupped their face "Why are you crying?"

"It's just so... I... This is not fair..." They whined softly, covering their face.

"Dove-" Lilia reached out to pull them in, but they leaned back. He blinked a bit.

"I see you two have found each other."

Their gaze snapped to... Malleus. Overblot Malleus smiling down at them.

Of course. He hadn't been able to find this dream, certainly cause in it, he wasn't even born. But with the two distracted, they hadn't even noticed the egg cracking and his now appearance.

"This time, I'll..." Y/n reached for their sapphire necklace... but faltered as more tears fell from their eyes, and they sobbed uncontrollably.

"Dove." Lilia, firmer this time, pulled them in so they buried their face into his chest.

"How pitiful is my dearest right now..." Malleus spoke softly "See? You should just sleep in a happy-"

"I shouldn't be here..." Y/n cried.

"... What?"

"I shouldn't even exist..." They sobbed "What is the point of my existence, honestly? I just create more problems. Why did Desiré have to leave? Because of me? If I didn't exist, then maybe she could have stayed here... In the world she loves with the people she loves. She could have still been friends with Maleanor, Raverne and Baur... She could have been happy together with Lilia... She could have seen Malleus be born..."

"I wish I didn't exist."

The words hit Malleus hard. A world without Y/n in it? "... Dearest... No-" He reached out... The air around him suddenly glitched out.

"Mal-Mal."

He opened his eyes, finding himself back at NRC, heart racing.

"Calm down." Y/n. The part that wanted this cupped his cheeks "Kerubiel does not like an unbalanced leader."

"...!" Malleus looked up and actually stiffened at the sight of Kerubiel. It had opened one eye. Just one dreadful red eye zeroing on him in silent judgement... But that was enough to put the fear of god in him.

Malleus took a shaky breath first... then exhaled softly, letting his muscles and heartrate relax and go back to normal "... It's fine."

... The eye stayed open for a second more... before Kerubiel slowly closed it, looking dreadfully serene once more.

"..."

"Don't say that, dove." Lilia hugged Y/n as Malleus glitched out of the dream for a reason he didn't understand just yet "You did and still do so much for all of us. You are important, your existence is important."

"But... if I didn't exist... you'd still have... Desiré... She... I'm no... I can't replace-"

Lilia cut her off by suddenly cupping their face and pushing his lips on theirs.
