Izzy, like the rest of the school, had been evacuated to Dargon's cave. The sound of gunfire made her shake and breathe heavily, but she pulled through the evacuation and made it to Dargon's cave fine in the end.
Izzy saw Dargon relaxing in a pool of molten gold. He was orange in colour with blue scales running up his back. Bach home, her friends called her a Dragon Tamer, because of her love for the scaly creatures, and also for deeper reasons. Careful not to lose her footing and fall into the molten metal, Izzy tiptoed over to Dargon.
"Who goes there?" his deep rumbling voice echoed through the cavern. But Izzy wasn't scared. She had met worse Dragons.
"Hi, my name is Izzy, I'm from the school, I've heard a lot about you."
"From who?"
"I've read books about you and this cavern, I wanted to meet you."
"Come closer, so I can see who you really are."
Izzy tiptoed forward, still minding her step. She stepped onto a rock where Dargon could see her.
"I recognise you from somewhere" The Dragon said thoughtfully, taking Izzy by surprise. "Yes, you seem familiar. But you didn't just come to see me did you?"
"I... well, um... I..."
"You can tame dragons, can't you?"
"Ye-ye-yes, I can sometimes"
The dragon chuckled. "Ah, the last Dragon tamer at the school was Dianite himself."
"Really?!"
"Yes, not many people have the gift."
Izzy hadn't realised how rare dragon tamers were.
"But, alas, I am already tamed, by Dianite himself."
Izzy sat down on the rock. She was still recovering from the gunfire and evacuation. And... something else...
"Is something playing on your mind, young Ianitee?"
Izzy jumped, startled and suddenly very aware of her surroundings.
"Er, nothing, Mr Dargon, sir."
He chuckled again "Us dragons and you Dragon tamers have a lot more in common than, say, regular humans. We can read your most prominent thoughts."
"Wait, you've been reading my mind?!"
"Yes, there seems to be a lot of fear, for a boy. I do believe his name was Eddie?"
Izzy felt her cheeks go very red VERY quickly. And it wasn't due to the fact she was sitting by molten gold.
"Sssshh! Someone might hear!"
Another chuckle. "There's something more than fear for the lad, isn't there?"
"Shut up" Izzy said, looking away. The dragon kept chuckling.
"You will have to tell him at some point, young Dragon tamer. He may be dead before you tell him at this rate."
"Wait, what?!" Izzy gasped, panicked and terrified on Eddie's behalf.
"He's out there fighting, you know."
Izzy stood up. "I'm going to find him."
Dargon sighed and simply said "Well, thank you for the visit, young Dragon Tamer, we will meet again, I am sure of it."
Izzy smiled back in return, before scampering up the cavern to the main entrance.Where she found a bloody and beaten up Eddie.
Izzy ran towards him and almost knocked him over in the impact of the hug. Then fiery anger came over her.
"YOU ASSHOLE! " she yelled at Eddie, making him jump a little. "RESPAWN WAS OFF, YOU COULD HAVE DIED YOU LITTLE SHIT!" she screamed again and punched him with all her might in the arm, before realizing it was badly wounded. He winced at the pain but didn't lash out on her like most people would, he just accepted it. And that was worse.
"DON'T DO THAT TO ME FUCK FACE !" She yelled and stormed away, tears in her eyes. She was glad that Eddie stayed where he was, to greet everybody else, she needed some alone time..: Time skip bought to you by The Wang Gang:.
It was about one in the morning, Izzy couldn't sleep. It was warm and stuffy, plus she felt anxious and guilty about punching Eddie when he was wounded. Quietly as possible, she picked up her shoes and walked out of the cave, before pulling her boots on. She didn't want to wake anyone up with her footsteps. She walked towards Dargon's cavern, yet he was still asleep. She had figured that would be the case. But still Dragons comforted her, for some reason, whereas for most people, they were terrifying. She sat down and leant her head against the rock walls. She closed her eyes and relaxed, until she heard footsteps coming behind her. Startled at the sudden noise Izzy jumped around to see it was Eddie, trying to stifle his laughs at her surprise. Or her bedhead, which was probably spectacular.
"Ass" Izzy turned back around, still guilty about earlier and also embarrassed.
"Well, at least it wasn't 'fuck face' this time" he said, smiling, making Izzy feel even more guilty. "Couldn't sleep either?"
Izzy shook her head. Eddie sat down next to her in the cold cave floor. The sat there for a while, in complete silence. Izzy heard a voice in her head, sounding very much like Dargon, saying "You'll have to tell him at some point, he'll be dead before you tell him at this rate."
Izzy turned to face him and started to say "Eddie, I've been me-" but at exactly the same time Eddie started talking as well. They both looked at each other surprised, before Izzy said "After you"
"Oh no, after you."
"No, after you!"
"Ladies first" Eddie smirked, with a small wink. Izzy smiled, then suddenly realised what that meant. She took a deep breath, and closed her eyes for a second before saying."Eddie, there's been something I've been meaning to tell you for... a while now" She took a deep breath, her heart racing. "I-I-I... I love you."
