Chapter 26: Eddie's Friday

I woke up that morning early and uncomfortable. We had been placed in cots in the dine-at-nite due to the taint in our dormitory. That taint was the bitchiest thing I'd ever seen. The teachers didn't have the necessary materials to stop it and so what. We were just going to let it spread . I didn't like that fact a bit. Alee was sick and getting worse. The Ianite dorms were completely covered and we were told to just sit and wait. No. No I would not sit here and do nothing while one of my friends was dying. While my home was slowly decaying. I would not sit and I would not wait.

  I got up from my cot and walked out if the dine-at- Nite. It was still very early. Three hours before classes began actually. It was still dark. I walked to The Thaumaturge room. I would get all the materials they had in there and I would find a way to stop the taint. I grabbed my scanner from my station and grabbed my Thaumenomicon . I started walking out of the school. I passed Jerry's Tree and started looking around in the woods outside the school for the silverwood tree. I had walked for an hour stopping to collect all the essentia from nodes I could find. That's when I found the small pocket of silver wood trees . I smiled and started to scan them, Gaining more knowledge. I had read that in order to become a skilled thaumaturge I had to lose my mind first. I was starting to lose my mind . and it had started to show. I couldn't dwell to much on that I knelt down at the silverwood tree and focused at another plant. A shimmerleaf , which I needed in order to make the cure for Alee. I reached out and winced. I had forgotten that ibgad burned my arm yesterday getting Alee out of the room. I continued , I picked every flower from that shimmerleaf bush and moved on to the next one. I did the same to that one and stopped, saving the others just in case. I ended up with around twenty three flowers. I walked back to the school . The sun had already started to rise and school was starting in one hour.

I was stopping very often on my way back researching and scanning things. And sucking all the nodes. Sonja had taught us all in what she called " how to become a dirty little node sucker" and I was very prominent at it. I opened my Thaumonomicon and looked the research that I had filled. It was only the end of the second week but I had already filled out about a fifth of the whole book. I smiled , content with myself.

I arrived at school around 9:00 a.m. I had missed history with Jeriah . which I felt bad for , I quite had started to like the old man and his  class. I don't have any time to dwell on that however and I started walking to the Thaumaturge's room. I was surprisingly the first one there and I sat at my station . I started doing research and trying to continue to finish my Thaumonomicon. I could feel myself going slightly bonckers. It was quite fun actually. I started to understand things that I hadn't been able too before. With all that research
I had been doing I realizes what I needed to do to stop the taint. It wasn't going to be easy however.

The bell rang and the class ended. Everyone else started to head for pranking. I headed in the opposite direction however, towards the ianite dorms. I pulled out the couple bottles that I had taken from Firefoxx's class . I had already gotten most of the essentia needed. Now all I needed was the taint. I entered the dorm and looked around. It was still covered in the substance. I walked around the dorms collecting taint in the bottles a procces that took a couple minutes only.  I walked back to the Thaumcraft classroom and went to my station. I proceeded to take out my crucible and started liquefieng the essentia . when that was finished I started the process of making the ethereal bloom.  I held the taint in my left hand and the others in my right. I started to put each of the ingredients in one by one , putting the shimmerleaf flower last. I did this around twenty times and got around twenty blooms before my head started to spin. I stopped and looked at the time. Pranking had ended just then and it was about lunchtime. I packed everything up and headed out . I was hungry.

I walked slowly. Staring at my left hand. Was it me or did it look purple? I don't know. I kept walking. I saw Izzy up ahead and started to go up to her when it happened. A girl from Mianite had tripped her and sent her sprawling. She started to insult her and kicked her books around. I got angered. I walked swiftlyin between the two and here's what I said to the girl who had tripped Izzy.

" Stand back you thick skulled piece of shite mianite dick sucking bitch. I have never seen a slut as slutty as you are you clit rubbing whore. Izzy is better then you are in every way and you have no right to pick in her!"

There were quite a few more choice words in there but for the sake of purity I will not dare mention them here. At the end of my little verbal attack the girl who had tripped Izzy stormed off with tears in her eyes. I turned around frowning with anger in my eyes and started picking up Izzy's books. I finished and stood up . I carried them into the Dine-at-Nite . Every Mianitee in the room was glaring at me . I glared back. I set the books down on the table and sat down . Izzy sat down across from me . She was smiling. I felt her hand go over mine and looked up. I looked her in her beautiful green eyes and smiled back. We stayed that way for a while. It didn't last long because the bell rang soon after and we were called to move onto our next classes. While everyone started to leave for smelting I headed back to the Thaumaturge room. I started feeling overly sick but I didn't dwell on that fact or the fact that my skin had turned from a tan to a light purple tinge. I worked on the blooms for another hour and a half . when I finished I had just enough for the entire ianite dorm and one for Alee. I headed to the Ianite dorm as Technology ended and all throughout Purge education I placed the blooms in places where they would get all the taint. The day ended and I headedbto the nursery.

Alee was laying in bed. She looked horrible and she was sweating like a whore in church. Izzy and Andor were both there as well as a nurse. I walked up , also looking sickly. I had realized that when I was making the cure I had contracted taint as well. I walked up all three of the people in there saw me and realized u had taint as well. I ignored them. I went straight to Alee and pulled out the bloom. Smiling and against the protest of the nurse , I made alee eat it. Immediately she started getting better. I was getting worse however and I took out my last bloom. I placed it in my mouth and chewed. I swallowed and the purple in my skin dissapeared . without saying a word to any of them the whole time I walked out. Headed to the dine-at-nite and fell on a cot.

...I was exhausted.
