Chapter 70: Edward: The midpurge: The Sharpshooter

Three months had passed sense the Battle of Urulu. Everything had been smooth sailing. Classes had been good. I has finished my mechanical Pegasus . The ME System was finished and I placed it in the room I shared with Andor and Tyler.  Me and Izzy were better than ever and so were Alee and Andor. Everything was fine. Or so, that was what I believed at the time. I still had nightmares about the death of my friends. Waking up in the middle of the night shaking with my hand enclosed over the cocked pistol on my bedside table, even though I never cocked it when I slept. But the taint hadn't come back. The War was at a stalemate, with both the armies dug in and around the port City of Ruxomar. The Ianite navy was of the shore and providing support for the Army of Dianite. Everything was smooth sailing.

Today was the day of the biggest purge of the year. Midpurge. With the war going on outside the school and tensions running high between Mianite and the Dianite/Ianite alliance. Dianite and Ianite had agreed to break the alliance for today. Today it was win or die, and we decided to fight alone. The gods called us in to the dine-at-nite and told jsthe rules. In one hour we would all be teleported to the purge arena. All weapons , magic, and potions were allowed with the exception of invis pots and enchants. Armor was optional but I decided not to wear any. Instead putting on my ILC jacket and a pair of jeans. Throwing on some combat boots, loading both my pistol and musket as well as strapping my scythe to my waist. We got back to the Dine- at- Nite. I found Izzy, gave a her a long kiss and a hug . then we were teleported.

The purge started off normally. We spawned in our spawn and I ran off to the large dianite mountains. Cutting to the side and going off trail I started for a large tree that would allow me to see most of the field. I climbed up the tree and sat on a large branch. Taking out my musket. Well, let me clarify. It was a rifled long musket. More accurate than most other muskets. It could pick people off from far off. I placed a telescopic sight on it and looked around.  I saw a group of mianitees walking around sneakily. Jake and Sterling were among them. I places the center of the crosshair on Sterlings left breast. The group was about to dissapear from my sight but I squeeeezed the trigger just in time and when my sight refocused I saw Sterling on the ground materializing into white. It took me around 23 seconds to reload and when I did I took aim again. This time I saw Tom killing Tucker. The specials where fighting Jordan was with the main body of Ianite. Anyway, I focused on Tom. He was wearing some the strongest armor in the world. The diamond armor of Dianite. Any of my shots would bounce off of it. There were only a few openings in his armor which was the eye holes and the little chinks in between his arms and his chestplate. I laughed to myself and took aim at his eye, knowing that I would never hit it but it was worth a shot. With Tom standing still over Tuckers body , which was turning to white, I squeeeeezed the trigger. The bang from the musket echoed through the arena . The rifled musket took a second to settle back into my shoulder but when it did I saw Tom on the ground where Tucker formally was. I was shocked, I hadn't expected to hit that shot, it was an impossible one. I had hit it though and I laughed to myself as I saw Tom dissapear into white.

I knew that after those two shots I had to move , so I did. I climbed down from my tree and walked around. This whole time I hadn't been paying attention to the score board but I realized how few people there were. I found another spot. Took another three shots. Got another two kills. Then I moved. This time I took out my pistol and Scythe, and started looking. I heard yelling turned to see Lucy being killed by Jake. Then Lucas came from nowhere and killed Jake. Then a Purple Arrow came, Izzy's purple arrow. It missed Lucad and he turned and charged her. I wasn't going to let the douchebag kill my girlfriend, I pulled up my pistol and fired. Lucas fell down. Dead. I ran up to Izzy.

"I love you" I told her and we kissed. It was nice . the cannon sounded the end of the purge. Ianite had won the midpurge for the first time in a long time. And I was happy.

Today would be good at the school. Tomorrow would be pretty good as well I hoped.
