I make it home, going a different way than usual to make sure the creepy Damon didn't follow me home. Wondering if what he said was true, that he was going to be our new neighbor. I made it back right when my brothers were parking the trunk beside the barn. Watching them head into the house, not even noticing me ride up to the barn. Both Holli and I were all sweaty. Giving her a good, rub down with cold water. Turning the hose on as I slip the rope off her neck, spraying her once then grabbing some horse soap. Brushing her down and then grabbing the hose again for spray, when a tap on the shoulder made me jump, spraying the person, or people.

Realizing it was my best friends and a person I hadn't seen before, they were all a little wet from the spray. I shut the hose off waving at them, all of them just glared at me, "Hey, guys." I said, waving a little.

All of them begin to yell me, trying to grab for the hose. All of us then falling into a pile, laughing as we all were dirty. Courtney was the first one to get up, her long blonde hair stuck to her face and blue eyes full of laughter. Melody stood next to her, her black hair falling out of the messy bun, brown eyes full of anger, because she was dirtiest. I then got up, helping the new girl. "I'm so sorry. I really never meant to y'all." Pleading to them.

They just shake their heads with a smile, then I look to the new girl, "Hi, I'm Athena and you are?"

"I'm Jess", she had strawberry blonde hair and light blue/grey eyes. "My family just moved here, we own the new bookstore/bakery in the town." She said.

"We were just showing her around." Melody said.

"Sounds like fun. Why don't we go inside and cleaned off." I say, quickly putting Holli away and leading them up to the house. Going into the house through the mud room as we all take our shoes off. I look around for my mom, finding her in the kitchen.

"Hey, girls," Her smile fell a little at seeing us all dirty, "What happened?" She asked, and they all look over at me. "I didn't mean to spray y'all. It was an accident." I said, holding up my hands in innocence. My mom shook her head, laughing and finished up her mixing. "Well you guys are welcome to the extra clothes we have in the mud room." They all decided to take up her offer, changing quickly and grabbing a muffin. Then we all head up to my room. Sitting on my bed since it was the only clean area to sit on.

"Your room is mess, when did you last see your floor?" Melody asked, smiling at me and I just stuck my tongue out. All of us begin to talk about stuff happening around town, "Why don't we tell Jess a little about ourselves. I bet she has been wondering." Courtney says, and Jess smiles at us, nodding.

"My name is Melody Harper Smith. I go and help Athena's mom down in the flea market, because I want to become a professional baker or chef. To hopefully own my own diner. I am also 17 years old, and I have one older brother who is in the military."

"My name is Courtney Brynn Decker. Athena and I work together to win riding competitions. I want to become an Ag teacher one day, and I am also 17. But I am an only child."

"My name is Athena Grace Peterson. I am a cross country rider, a baker, and a little bit of a hunter. My father taught me when I was young. I want to be a professional horse rider or trainer. I am 17 years old with two older brothers."

Jess was little shy when she spoke to us, "My name is Jessica Lynn Jones. I'm an artist and just moved out here from the city because of my father's job. I am 17 and an only child." We all smiled, laughing and talking for an hour, my calling us for lunch. Jess was sitting across from me as we at hotdogs and macaroni and cheese.

"So, my parents were having this bonfire at my house tomorrow. I was wondering if you guys would like time come?" Of course we all said yes, excited to hang out again. "What time?" Melody asked.

"I think it's 7. If it changes I will text you guys." Jess said. They decided to leave, finishing up Jess's tour of the town. I quickly though pull Courtney and Melody away for a moment, and they already knew what I was going to asked. "Do you guys want to spend the night?"

Both of them gave me a big smile in returned, saying they would have to ask and come back later with their bags. I walk into the living room to find my parents and brothers in the living room watching tv. "Hey, mom. Can I ask you something?" She gave me her mom look at this question as she put her book down.

"What do you want?" I gave her my biggest smile. "Can Courtney and Melody spend the night?" She just looks at me for a moment, not saying anything. "I guess." She said with a smile. I jump up with excitement and give her a big hug. My brother just look at me, complaining. "Athena, calm down! Were trying to watch our show here!" Mason yelled at me. I look over at him and stick my tongue out. He starts to get up to go after me, but I was already out of the room. Heading to my room, knowing it needed a clean before they came over.

Doing some laundry, putting clothes up, and vacuuming. Making my bed was the last thing I did, when I heard the doorbell. Hearing my mom answer and their footsteps coming to my door, a knock. "Come in!" I said, with a smile as I'm sitting on my bed. Both of them come in, dropping their bags off and sitting on my bed beside me.

"So, how have you guys really been?" I asked and they look at me as we all get comfy. Lying down side by side as we are on our phone. "It's been okay... Boring since you two were gone throughout the summer with horse stuff." Melody said, staring at Courtney and I.

"I'm sorry..." I said, looking over at Courtney and knowing she also felt bad too. "Besides you both going away, it's been good." She said with a weird smile. I look over at her, wondering what that could have been, but I just brush it off. "Hey, can I go get a drink?" Melody suddenly asked.

"Sure, can you grab us one?" Courtney asked, continuing to stare at he phone. "Yep!"
