ARIKA

I felt like an entirely new person when I woke up the next day... or night. I wasn't sure. I'd lost track of time, but I felt amazing for some reason.

There wasn't a single ache or discomfort in my body. I felt so well-rested and overall satisfied... which was odd. Even though it was a welcome feeling, it made me feel weird. I felt like I was in an entirely different body than my own.

When I opened my eyes, I found myself in my assigned room in our wing. I thought I was alone for a moment, but when I started yawning and stretching, I felt some commotion to the left of my room.

"She's awake," It was Radrox. I blinked at him because it took me a moment to recognize him. His hair had been cut into a buzzcut, and his horns seemed shiny. I couldn't help but stare at him. He looked very different. I wasn't sure I liked his new look, but I couldn't take my eyes off him for some reason.

"I certainly am," I responded, rubbing my eyes before realizing that Zorge was already in the room, too, lingering by the window. I hadn't noticed him at first, but looking at him now, I saw that he also looked different.

The same had happened to him— his hair had been cut short, and his horns looked different. Unlike Radrox, Zorge's horns were capped with silver plating... well, it looked like silver, but the metal didn't shine the same. It must have been an entirely different metal.

"Looks like you two did a makeover while I was asleep. Where's Ivret? Did he get the same thing done, too? I'd love to see how it looks on him," I said innocently, stretching, but I didn't get any response from the two of them. It took a second to notice how silent the room was, and the air was tense. I could almost hear it sizzling in the air.

I looked at both of them, only to find an agitated and possessive look in their eyes. Zorge looked like he wanted to leap at me and claim me again. On the other hand, Radrox seemed like he was on the verge of erupting in flames that could burn down the whole palace.

"What?" I asked, crossing my arms on my chest. I tried to read them, to understand why they were acting so strangely suddenly. Could it be that I had finally mated with Ivret? If that were the case, there would soon be a huge problem.

I glared back at them, still not sure about the situation. However, I wouldn't let them mess with me this time.

"You've been sleeping for three days, Arika." Radrox finally broke the silence, which puzzled me as much as it surprised me.

"What?" I asked, unable to believe my ears.

"You've been asleep for three days, Arika," Zorge said this time, edging closer to the bed. However, this time, there was more concern than possessiveness on his face. "We were afraid you weren't going to wake up,"

"Where's Ivret?" I asked in a panic. The last thing I remembered was being with him. Zorge's jaw tightened a bit, but he answered me nonetheless. "He's at the Court, trying to figure out how to stop Mavie from sending us to the frontlines,"

"Okay," I swallowed, feeling uneasy for a moment. I started feeling hot suddenly, and beads of sweat started breaking out all over my forehead. As Zorge took another step towards the bed, Radrox growled.

"Let me check her once," Zorge said to his brother.

"It'll make her worse," Radrox growled. His voice sounded rougher and deeper all of a sudden. It sounded like he was struggling to speak.

"What?" I asked, breathing hard all of a sudden. Out of nowhere, I was acutely aware of Zorge and Radrox's presence in the room. I could smell their pheromones in the air, and their scent did something to me. I felt an intense desire rise in me.

Slowly yet steadily, a pulse started between my legs.

"Fuck, she's going into heat again," Radrox growled, and I felt him move behind me as Zorge stood before me, his hand pressed to my forehead to take my temperature. A grave look of concern on his face.

"What?" I asked, breathless, sweating and needy all of a sudden. My senses were suddenly overwhelmed by Radrox and Zorge while my body thrummed alive with intense need, preparing me for them.

"You're going into heat again, Arika," Zorge answered.

"What do you mean by again?" I asked after it took me a second to register his words. As I stared at him, I felt the need to climb him like a tree. My core clenched, and my breaths continued to grow shallow.

"You went into heat when you were with Ivret, and it just wouldn't stop," Zorge explained.

"Drink this," Radrox ordered, standing before me with a cup. But I was focused on him—and his brother. Oh, yes, I wanted to climb both of them like trees.

"Arika," Radrox growled. "Drink this," He ordered again, snapping me out of my daze before I looked at the cup. The contents of it looked like water. I didn't wait for him to answer my question as I took the cup from him and downed every drop of the liquid.

"It's an enchantment to slow down your heat," Zorge explained.

"Why would you do that?" I asked, not feeling the effect of the drink yet. The more I looked at the brothers, the more I felt the urge to climb them, to have them fuck me... use my body however they liked. I wanted them at the same time. I wanted them to...

"Stop," Radrox muttered, grabbing my hair and tilting my head back. "Stop thinking whatever you're thinking,"

"How do you know what I'm thinking?" I challenged him because I felt like messing with them for a bit.

"Because we can smell your arousal," Zorge answered. His voice was heavy, laced with a riot of desire.

"Oh," I breathed, somewhat surprised by his answer. I wasn't sure what I was expecting.

"Arika, do you remember what happened at the dinner?" Zorge asked me. "Ivret said you didn't remember anything,"

"I just remember going to dinner with him and waking up in his room. Nothing else." At my answer, the brothers exchanged a dark look.

"What is it?" I asked, annoyed that the two weren't paying me any attention. I wanted all their attention on me solely. I wanted them to devour me, to do the nastiest things to me.

"Someone cast a strong spell on you to make you stay in heat," Radrox explained. Suddenly, I remembered something faint.

...there seems to be another way... and you may not like it...

The words echoed in my head all of a sudden.

"Try to remember what happened that night, Arika. We don't have much time," Zorge told me.

"What do you mean we don't have much time?" I asked. A sense of dread rose into me slowly as the words rang in my ear.

Zorge and Radrox exchanged another look this time, but it was full of tension.

"We're leaving for the frontline tomorrow."
