Episode 31: Piece of The Puzzle

It's been some time since the last wave appeared. Since then, me and the other heros have been training nonstop. Us and our parties. Even Naofumi even started joining us, little by little. But, the worries I've had only kept getting bigger. So, I gathered everyone to talk. And they have the same sentiment as I do.

(Y/N): Anything from the dragon hourglasses?

Ren: Nothing. No time is given. Some of the priest say it's a first.

Itsuki: This is bad. What if we missed it.

Ren: We couldn't have. We would be summoned to it's location.

Naofumi: Not to mention the mark in the sky is also gone. That's a clear indicator that the waves are being summoned.

Motoyasu: Do we even know how the waves are being summoned? Maybe we're missing something?

Naofumi: The waves only start when the world is in danger. Reason why we were summoned in the first place.

Itsuki: So...If theres no waves, then we're done...right?

(Y/N): Presumably. But, the king is dead. Meaning we don't know how to get back.

Motoyasu: What about the queen? Melty's mother.

(Y/N): Potential. Although, Malty doesn't like to talk about her mother. Although, I could try to ask.

Naofumi: She's the only lead we have.

(Y/N): ...Your right. I'll go ask.

Motoyasu: Take your time. She'll probably be on edge.

I stand from our meeting circle and step away. I see her sitting under a tree, watching everyone else train.

(Y/N): Hey you. Sitting around?

Malty: Just catching my breath. Done with the team meeting?

(Y/N): Not really. I had to break away to ask you something.

Malty: If it's about my sword, Ren still can't have it.

I chuckle before rubbing my neck.

(Y/N): No no. Not that at least. It's... It's about your mother.

As I say that, she looked to the ground and took a deep sigh.

Melty: I had a feeling it would come up again...Alright. What do you need to know.

(Y/N): These waves. We haven't seen them appearing for some time. We figured...could she be behind it?

Malty: Knowing my mother's nature...I wouldn't put it behind her if she would be the cause. But this all happened even before my mother was born. So it couldn't.

(Y/N): But, isn't our purpose to stop the waves? If they don't appear...then isn't our job done?

Malty: You...Your right. But since you didn't get sent back, it must mean the job's not done yet.

(Y/N): And that's our next choice of action. Meet with your mother and speak with her directly.

Malty stands up and rubs the grass off her legs.

Malty: That'll be the hard part. She sees us as her enemies. Meaning, getting into Aincrad will be impossible.

(Y/N): That won't stop us. Tsubasa is on her side too. So we can cut through any soldiers she tries to block our path with.

She sighs as she looks to the sky.

Malty: I'd love to say that we'd be fine...but my mom is a more powerful mage then me. If we rushed Aincrad, we'd be vaporized in an instant.
