Today was quite the blue-hued attraction, if not for the hints of red dusting your face.

The sun spun about in the sky, completely unveiled by clouds, rain, or any other forms of precipitation. Long shadows stretched weakly in its presence, buildings all around vividly illuminated by the rays of light blaring down at them. You fanned yourself casually, the flat palm of your hand creasing up and down repeatedly to generate gust.

Thankfully, moments later, there was an affectionate zephyr to cool you, though it brought more with it than just the sweat off your brow.

Soft patters of footsteps on the sidewalk slowly turned into harsh crunching, as the floor beneath you got dotted with sand, caught riding on the wings of the endless breeze.

A bandaged hand currently hovered near your own, the distance just barely a hair's breadth away. The centimeters that sat between you and Dazai felt like a tease, or some form of hellish purgatory resting soundly between the thoughts of "Should I?" Or "Shouldn't I?"

The urge for contact was there in truth, but the minor public gesture of intertwined hands did eat at your pride a little, as you'd obliterate your appearance of professionalism, in the event any mafia eyes happen to wander your way.

"Yeesh, I can't really tell if this is a date or just some other mission to you."

Dazai chuckled lightly, as his palm came up to fan himself in the same fashion as you. In an act of what seemed to be a chaotic epiphany of his own, he started fanning you with his other hand, Dazai flapping like a misguided butterfly.

You sighed drowsily, sweat running down your temple as you tried to fan him away before responding.

"Does it matter? We're attached at the hip either way."

He only grinned at your uninvested response.

"How carefree! Especially for you, (Y/n)!" His face slowly crept into a cozy smirk. "If you're this unbothered, then I know which of the two you think it really is~"

You immediately darted your head away and huffed at him. Your cheeks suddenly burned.

"Shut up..."

The two of you kept walking, the same distance still hovering there. Your nose was ambushed by the scent of salt in the air, while your ears were assailed with nothing but the shrieks of seagulls. Those damned sandwich stealing water-chickens...

"(Y/n)! Hey hey~ Right here, right now!"

"Wha-"

Dazai took your hand and jerked you out of nowhere. He started sprinting, nearly dragging you across the sandy beach before you. When he finally stopped, you were tired, and your calves were dying so you took a second to catch your breath before looking back up at him. However, when you did look up, it was like you blinked and suddenly there was a plain white cloth spread across the ground, inviting you to take a seat on it. In his arms, he held on to an assortment of plastic-wrapped onigiri.

"Picnic. You like?" Dazai asked curiously. There was a certain glint in his eye that told you he'd expected to be praised for the idea.

Just as you were about to tell him you liked it and ask where the surprise items even came from, a large gale uprooted the blanket right from your spot, elegantly smacking Dazai right across the face.

"OW." You reeled, as soon as you heard the fwapping sound of the blanket hitting him.

"..."

Dazai stood silently, a deadpan expression as the blanket slowly fell from its initial height, settling gently onto the ground once again. His eye was still shut, it still burning from being swiped at by the blanket.
