You took off at a brisk jog down the street at around 4 in the afternoon the next day.
You read through the files Sakaguchi had handed you on the missions you'd gone on. As it would have turned out, Jake's name had been listed not only in the hospital mission as you already knew, but it had been listed in the train mission you went on as well.
You hadn't any idea he'd been involved with that one at all until you read the report, apparently typed up by Chuuya.
The documented stated that Jake was the leading suspect as to the one who had employed the ice-Gifted schoolgirl and her clone-making older brother.
Assuming that was in fact the case, you needed to bring evidence to Mori that there was a much larger conspiracy going on here than initially believed.
That was, unless he already knew but had been handling it in secret. However, given that you had been on that mission yourself and hadn't even known, you figured it might be that Chuuya overlooked the significance of Jake's involvement since he wasn't on that hospital run with you and Dazai.
Now, you had to go and find that schoolgirl. If it could lead you to Jake so you could confront him, you would go through the painstaking task again that was dealing with that girl.
She probably wanted vengeance after you and Dazai took her brother's life. You figured you'd need to be ready to take hers, in the event she was inconsolable entirely. It'd be back to square one, but the risk was a gamble you were willing to take.
You passed by an alleyway on the street and heard a loud voice, though the words weren't something you could make out before rounding the corner.
You turned your head at the sound of company in an instant, as someone darted toward you.
Your assailant moved quickly, but didn't at all hide himself.
Your eyes met green ones and spiky hair of similar emerald hue. This certainly wasn't who you were looking for.
He came out with a fist straight to your jaw. The force pushed you back slightly, but that was it.
On second thought, you'd felt light headed in the second of impact. However, it just hadn't been enough to register in your mind at the time.
"So I finally get to meet the famed (L/n), (Y/n). How charming." He grinned, his eyes lacking a certain glow. A chill ran down your spine at his greeting.
You were working on a personal mission right now, you didn't want to be dealing with this. (Then again, when were you ever willing to deal with bs that seemed optional?) You looked around for a way to just scram and leave this problem to anybody else.
When you saw there were no other options, you pulled out your gun.
"Woah woah woah. There's no need for any of that." Your green haired company said all too casually.
"How about we put the toy away and just chat for a little bit, hm?"
Finger itching for the pull, you shot immediately, the bullet whizzing just a centimeter off the top of the man's head.
He didn't take your warning shot seriously at all. He hadn't moved or flinched.
"If only people talked things out. Maybe silly things like guns would be the mere work of fantasy instead of them polluting our framework of reality-"
"If you really thought that way, you wouldn't have tried punching me first thing after we met. State your business already." You hit back bitterly.
"Oh come on. I already know you can take it. No pain, no gain!"
