"She's pregnant"

Yash eyes widen as the doctor's voice echoed in the room. He should be jumping for joy right now, but he was shattered.

"Congratulations"

She said before leaving.

"Yash?"

She whispered his name softly, trying to read his expression.

"Say something"

She pleaded with him but he could not meet her eyes.

"Who's is the dad?"

The words came out of his mouth, startling Aarti.

"How can you ask me that right now? You're the dad, Yash"

Aarti got up and walked towards him.

"Look at me and tell me you believe me"

She caressed his cheeks but he gently moved her hands away.

"I don't know what to believe anymore"

He stepped back. A week ago he would've believed her without a doubt, but now he was overthinking everything.

"You're a coward for believing a stranger over me, the person you claimed to love"

Her voice was low but firm.

"Love?"

He scoffed.

"You claim to love me, yet you can't explain how he ended up in bed with you"

He snapped back, looking at her.

"How many times do I have to tell you that I don't know that man. I have no idea how he got into our bed"

She yelled.

"This is your child, our child"

She placed her hand on her stomach, then looked back at Yash.

"Why can't you believe me?"

She shouted.

"Then prove it to me; I want a DNA test done"

Aarti gasped as she grabbed his collar.

"You can't be serious right now"

She faced him.

"If you have nothing to hide then prove it to me"

His voice was sharp, breaking Aarti's heart again.

"They say women have to go through so many tests in their lives just to prove their innocence. I never thought that you would ever doubt me,

Yash"

She finally said, her voice was low.

"Fine, I'll do it"

She looked at him and he saw defeat in her eyes.

"But I hope you know that we would never be the same again. Once you get the result and realize that you're the father, I want nothing to do with you ever again. I hope you stay the hell away from me and my baby after that"

Aarti was truly offended with Yash approach. She decided to do the DNA test, so she can throw the result in his face and show him how wrong he is about everything. She did not even glance his way before leaving. Yash just stood there frustrated, not sure if he was doing the right thing anymore. He's always wanted to be a dad, to be Aarti's baby dad, but now he's worried that she might be using him. Yash knew that asking for a DNA test was an asshole move, but he wanted to be sure, especially since Aarti has hurt him in the past already.

Aarti ended up booking a room in an inn, she couldn't face Maansi, Aman, or even Pari right now. She knew in her heart that she's innocent but how could she explain to anyone how that man ended up in bed with her, how can she tell anyone that Yash doesn't believe her.

"This wasn't a mistake. Someone purposely sent him into our home and they wanted Yash to see everything"

Aarti sat on the floor, trying to put the piece of puzzle together.

"Maybe Arpita?"

She wondered as she recalled how heartbroken Arpita was when Yash ended their engagement. Maybe a wounded person would do anything just to win back the person they love? But what if it wasn't Arpita? What if she just accepted her faith and moved on? Just then Aarti gasped as she put her hand over her mouth.

"Mrs. Sindhiya?"

Aarti knew that she a vicious woman, after all she's the reason they broke up the first time.

"Could she really fall this low just to get me out of Yash life again?"

Aarti couldn't help but think that she's responsible for this.

"I need to tell Yash"

She took out her phone to call him but then stopped herself.

"Yash would never believe me over his own mom. It doesn't matter what I say, I'll still be the villain in his eyes"

Aarti wiped her tears.

"The Yash I knew always believed me"

She recalled countless of times Yash defended her, how many times he took her side over his mom's.

"But this Yash is hurt, he thinks that I cheated him"

She sobbed again. She knew that Yash wasn't fully at fault, he saw what he saw and believed it was real. But what hurt her the most, he didn't even try to listen to her side. He insulted their love, their unborn child, by asking for a DNA test.

"Just once I wished that you listened to my side of the story, that you believed me over him"

She whispered as she held her knees.

"Just once I wished that you chose me instead"

She cried herself to sleep that night.
