Chapter 35

"I should take her home. Thanks again for helping her"

Abhi said before leaving with a vulnerable Aarti. Yash quickly followed in his car; he needed to make sure that she got home safely. He took out his phone and made a call.

"Can you get to Aarti's apartment in 10 minutes? I'll explain everything to you later"

Maansi heard Yash voice and she knew something was wrong.

"I'm on my way"

She said as she grabbed her keys and left in a hurry. Abhi pulled up in front of Aarti's apartment; he got out of the car and held her by the waist as he tried to hold her up.

"I'll take it from here"

Abhi turned around and saw Maansi standing there. Yash, who was watching the entire time, sighed in relief.

"I'll get her inside"

Maansi swiftly observed him; she wondered who's this mystery man with Aarti.

"I didn't know Aarti had a roommate"

Abhi scratched the back of his head as he looked at Maansi.

"I'm more than her roommate; we're sisters"

She said, still not taking her eyes off of him. Abhi nodded his head, feeling defeated.

"I can help you take her inside"

His voice was low. Maansi felt a cold vibe from him; she needed him gone.

"I'll manage"

He had no other choice but to give Aarti to Maansi. As he walked away, she let out a soft sigh. Yash walked up towards them, his eyes on Aarti.

"Yash, help me to get her into the apartment"

She said as she looked through Aarti's bag for her keys. Yash hands trembled as he picked up Aarti and held her; she felt so small in his arms. He placed her on her bed, looked at her sleeping so peacefully and he couldn't help but caress her cheeks. He carefully closed her door behind as he stepped into the living room, facing a confused Maansi.

"Who was that guy?"

She looked at him.

"Aarti's boss. They were out having dinner"

Yash said as he recalled them earlier.

"Yash, I do not like him"

She blurted out; there was something about him that Maansi found chilling.

"We were roommates in college"

Yash paused.

"He was a womanizer; always getting involved with a new woman each week"

He continued and Maansi shook her head.

"Was she on a date with him?"

Maansi asked and Yash honestly couldn't answer that.

"She was passed out drunk; why did she drink so much?"

Maansi was upset with Aarti for risking her life like that. Fine, she was out having dinner with someone but why did she get so drunk? Did she not understand what could've happened if Yash wasn't there to protect her. Abhi's behavior did not seem normal to Maansi; but maybe she's just bias because deep down she's still rooting for Yash and Aarti to get back together.

"Just stay the night with her, make sure she's alright"

Yash was worried for her.

"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere"
