Yash picked Aarti up as promised; they sat in the car and Yash turned to face her.
"So I was thinking we can go to this really nice ocean view restaurant I found while scrolling Instagram"
He looked at her and Aarti smiled.
"Or"
She said and he chuckled.
"We can take a walk to that beautiful park nearby and we can have a picnic there"
She continued and he laughed quietly. There he was trying to impress her with the finest dining, but his Aarti is such a simple person.
"That sounds even better"
He caressed her cheeks. They stopped by a little bakery and Aarti ordered a few sandwiches and cookies. The lady placed everything in a small basket and Aarti smiled to herself. Now this is a perfect date idea. Once at the park, they found the prettiest cherry blossom tree. Yash spread a blanket that he had in the trunk of his car and they sat underneath the tree.
"So how did it go with Pari?"
Yash asked as he took a bite of his sandwich.
"it was really nice"
She rested her body on his chest.
"She wasn't surprised at all that we knew each other before"
She continued and Yash hugged her.
"Oh really?"
He looked down at her.
"She said she could always feel the tension between us"
Aarti said and Yash chuckled. It's true that he couldn't always hide his emotions, especially when it came to Aarti but he was surprised that Pari picked up on it.
"She would make a great detective"
He said and Aarti laughed; Yash had a point there.
"You know, if you want your old job back"
His finger intertwined with hers.
"It's all yours"
He kissed her forehead.
"I don't think I'm ready to face anyone at the office after that article came out"
She said softly. Meeting Pari was okay but Aarti felt anxious seeing the rest of the coworkers. She knows that they would look at her differently. Why won't they? She wrecked Yash and Arpita's relationship.
Over the next couple of weeks, their relationship was perfect. One night Aarti knocked on his study door and Yash became nervous as he hid something.
"Everything okay?"
She raised an eyebrow as she sat on his lap.
"Everything is perfect, jaan"
He kissed her forehead.
"Okay, if you say so"
She was still not convinced.
"Cmon, the food is getting cold"
She said getting up.
"Coming jaan. Just need to send out an email"
He lied as Aarti left the room. After she was gone, he pulled out a tiffany box. Inside was a beautiful teardrop engagement ring, Y&A with the infinity sign engraved inside.
"Sorry that I lied jaan. but I didn't want to ruin the surprise"
He placed it behind his folders.
The next day Yash finished up his presentation early; he had told Aarti that they were going for dinner to celebrate their company's new success. What she didn't know, he was going to ask her to marry him.
