 Jordan-13

Trudy took her goddaughter home for the night, and it was a very long one. Jordan woke up every half hour to an hour crying for her father. The older woman soothed her goddaughter to the best of her ability.

By the next morning, Trudy was awake. She didn't get a lot of sleep, but more than enough to get by for the day ahead. She was making coffee and breakfast. Jordan woke up, went for a shower, and then got ready for school. She always kept stuff at both her godparents' houses in case Alvin or Trudy watched her for Hank.

The teen chose a purple striped shirt with a black denim jacket, a black jean skirt, leggings, and her sneakers. She quickly brushed out her hair and pulled it back into a simple ponytail, after getting ready she went down to her godmother.

"Morning honey, you look beautiful," Trudy said.

"Thank you, Aunt Trudy," Jordan replied with a smile.

"I made your favorite, french toast." Trudy slid a plate of food over to her.

The teen smiled and started eating her breakfast. She knew her godmother and everyone were trying to make things a bit better for her until her father came home. As Jordan ate, Trudy texted Kim and Sean to be at the district early for a new assignment. They responded together with,

'Be there soon.'

The older woman looked at her goddaughter. "When you're finished, we'll head to the district, and everyone will be there early to work on getting your dad free."

"Can I stay?"

"Sorry, sweetheart. Your dad would want you to go to school. While the team and I work, I'm gonna have Kim and Sean watch you at school and bring you back to the district."

The teen nodded. "I understand."

"And until we catch the guy, you'll stay between me, Alvin, and the team. We'll pack a bag, and tonight after the shift, you'll go with one of them."

Jordan nodded, understanding her godmother's plan. "I understand, Aunt Trudy."

Trudy smiled and kissed her head. "That's my girl."

After the teen ate, she went and packed a small bag of clothes and anything else she needed. Once she had gathered everything she needed, the teen went down to collect her school stuff and followed Trudy out.

The two left, heading to the district, and as Trudy drove, she kept her eye out in case they were being followed. After arriving at the district, they went to the front desk. Trudy put Jordan's one bag away. Kim and Sean stood waiting for their Sergeant.

"Good, you two are here. Until further notice, you two are on protection detail." Trudy told them firmly.

The two officers saw Jordan standing quietly next to her and knew where she was headed with the assignment; neither said a word yet as the older woman continued.

"You two will take her to school, stay there, and bring her back here; you're to make no stops between there and here."

"Yes, Sergeant." They said without hesitation.

"Is everything alright, Sarge? Shouldn't she be with her father?" Kim asked.

"Hank's... unavailable," Trudy said cautiously.

"Anything we should know?" Sean asked.

The team is working on getting him back. You two stay alert for Damon Mannings. I'll have the others send you his photo." Then she looked at Sean. "And as for you, you will not make a single complaint or remark about this. If I hear so much as one word, I'll assign you to crossing guard duty until I say otherwise. Am I clear?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Get going so Jordan isn't late."

The two officers left with Jordan, heading out. Trudy watched them. Once they were gone, she went up to Intelligence to help the others find Damon.

Sean was driving as Kim rode shotgun, and the teen was in the back riding comfortably. She stayed quiet the entire drive, missing her father. Sean pulled up at the school, and Jordan hopped out.

"Have a good day, honey," Kim said.

"We'll be here whenever you need us," Sean added.

Jordan waved at them, heading in. "Bye"

From afar, Damon was watching and hit his steering wheel. He sped off, going the other way to avoid getting caught. Damon underestimated Hank's influence; he had his daughter under the best protection everywhere.

He drove to a bar and walked in. An older blonde woman was at the bar, wiping glasses. Damon took a seat at the barstool. "Bunny"

Bunny turned and saw him. "Damon. It's been years, what can I do for you?"

"Let me get a beer. Let me ask you something, you remember Hank Voight?"

She gave a dry laugh. "Of course I do. He practically stole my daughter. My daughter, Erin, works with him as a cop. He's her boss. He has a daughter of his own, yet he still has mine." She slid over the beer.

"I got him out of the way. I just need his kid. He put me away, and I lost my family. I want him to feel what I felt."

"I think we can help each other, Damon."
