*Pausing the Guilty or Innocent storyline, I'm stuck with writer's block*
Jordan-13
"Oh no, no no no no."
Jordan was given her report card and saw that she failed at least half her classes, and her teachers had wanted to have her father in for a parent-teacher conference. She knew she couldn't show it to her father. The teen didn't know what to do; all she knew was that she couldn't show it to her father.
She stuffed it in her bag as her last bell rang for the day, dismissing them from school. Before she could leave, her teacher called her back.
"Yeah, Mr. Donovon," Jordan says, adjusting her backpack.
"I'm worried about your grade, Jo. You used to be a good student, and now you're failing. Is everything alright?" He asked
"Yeah, definitely. I know I'm not doing my best now, but I promise I will."
"I hope so, and please do tell your father I'd like to speak to him about this. I wanna see you succeed in my class. All your teachers wanna see you succeed in your classes. When your dad comes in, we'll come up with a plan to help you."
She gave a straight smile and face as her heart raced. "I will definitely tell him when I get home."
"I hope you do, I don't wanna see you get held back for this."
Jordan nodded and went to her locker to get her books. Her locker was right next to her best friend's locker, Theo.
"I can't tell my dad they want a parent-teacher conference, let alone show him this." Jordan showed Theo her report card.
Theo chuckled a bit. "You're exaggerating a bit, Jo. It's not the end of the world. Just show him and tell him about the conference. What's the worst that could happen?"
"I get grounded till the end of time."
"Speaking of report cards, how'd your math test go for pre-algebra?"
She groaned and pulled that out. "I got a D. I swear, doing pre-algebra is like learning some foreign language. It's so confusing. And my dad needs to sign it. I'm totally dead."
"Just be honest and tell the truth. If you need help, he'll understand. I gotta go, see ya."
"Bye."
The teen groaned and slammed the locker, leaving. She couldn't show her father any of it. He'd flip. She just stared at the failed test and report card, wondering what to do. Shoving them in her bag, she began her walk to the district and was lost in her thoughts, trying to figure out what to do.
An idea popped into her head as she grinned. The teen knew that her math test needed her father's signature and returned back. She could make that happen without her father knowing.
Soon, the teen was at the district and headed inside. The lobby was chaotic as usual, and Jordan went up the stairs, and Trudy saw her goddaughter and buzzed her up to her father's unit. The teen went up to the unit and saw it was practically empty. All but Mouse.
The tech looked over and saw the teen giving her a gentle smile. "Hey kiddo, how was school?"
"It was alright. Where's everyone?" Jordan asked.
"In the field on a case, you need something?"
"An escape from my dad, I failed a test, and I got my report card today. I failed half my classes."
"Ouch. Sorry to hear that, kid."
"No kidding, my dad's gonna ground me till the end of time."
"When I was your age, I failed a couple of my classes. I was so scared to show my mom. I hacked the school's computer and changed my grade." The tech realized what he said as his eyes widened. "Oh no. What did I do?"
A mischievous grin appeared on her face. "You hacked your school's computer?"
"And when I realized what I did was wrong, I changed it back."
"You got busted, didn't you?"
"I got suspended for it, my principal restricted me from using the computer until he said so."
"Will you help me?"
The tech's eyes widened. "Help you? We'll both be in trouble with your father. I'll pass."
"I won't tell him you gave me the idea."
"It's a no kid, I'm sorry. You're just gonna have to tell your dad the truth and face the consequences. And this gives you a chance to work harder in your classes."
She sighed. "Alright, I guess I can."
"Smart girl, now go do your homework. Your dad said he wanted it done when you got here."
"I'm on it."
She walked to her father's office and pulled her stuff out. When she saw the math test, she knew what to do; she smoothed the paper out the best she could. Glancing at the door, she saw Mouse was busy on his computer and took this chance. She opened one of her father's drawers, looking for something, anything with his signature. Till she found something. One of his many reports with his signature.
Jordan eyed it carefully as she was signing her father's name on her math test. When it was done, she looked at it and smiled. "Perfect. One down, one to go."
