Jordan-13
After doing her homework and forging her father's signature on the test, all she needed was to hide her report card from him long enough for her to change it when she returned to school the next day.
The teen knew her father wasn't dumb or stupid; he saw anything with a simple look, and she'd fold easily, telling the truth. But she couldn't do that this time. She had to hold out long enough to see this through. Many people have tried to pull a lot over on her father, and Hank always managed to see through it, if not figure it out. She didn't know if she could pull this off, but she sure as hell was gonna try.
Pulling her backpack up off the floor, she opened it and shoved her report card inside under all her books, as it got wrinkled. Eventually, her father and the others returned from the field; they were exhausted and drained. She heard her father tell them.
"Everyone, go home, get some rest, we'll start fresh tomorrow," Hank told his team.
As everyone packed up and left, going home, he went to his office to see his daughter in her usual spot. Twirling in his chair, behind his desk. The sight always made him smile.
"Hey, sweetheart, how was school?" Hank says going to her.
"It was good, nothing new," Jordan replied as calmly as she could, hoping her father wouldn't pick up any deception.
"Where's your report card? I got an email saying they got passed out this week."
She froze, keeping a straight face. "We didn't get them today, I think maybe tomorrow."
The older father raised his eye. "Really? The email said today."
"I guess they got it messed up; it'll be tomorrow."
He nodded, but didn't believe it. As calm and collected as she was, Hank knew something wasn't right, and his daughter was lying. She could try, but it always came back to bite her. But for her sake, he'd play along.
"Alright, what about your math test?"
"My teacher wasn't in to give them to us."
He leaned on his desk, getting face-to-face with her. "Kid, if you're gonna lie, put some effort in. Hand it over."
"I don't have it, I swear."
"You better not be lying to me, Jordan Lynn. Otherwise, you'll be very sorry."
"I promise, Dad."
They left to go home for the night. As nervous as Jordan was, she kept it straight with her father; she felt so far she managed to hide it all from him, but she knew he wasn't convinced. But she was determined to play this through.
The next day, Jordan went to school early and to the computer lab, signing on and typing furiously as she began to hack the system. She remembered every hacking trick she learned from Mouse and got in.
"I'm in," She muttered. "Time to get to work."
As she looked at the screen, she was maneuvering the mouse till she found what she was looking for and clicked it, finding her grades. She couldn't help but wince seeing all the C's and D's. If her father saw this, she wouldn't be allowed to do anything until she brought the grades up.
"Let's change these from C's and D's to A's."
She started typing and changing the grades, and editing the comments from her teachers. After a few minutes, she gave it a final look over, making sure the grades were what she wanted and what she felt her father expected of her. He told her that her one job was school. Once overseeing the grades, she checked the comments, making sure there were no spelling errors. One thing misspelled, and that would be more than enough for her father to know something was up.
After changing everything and a final look over satisfied and smiled. "Perfect, two for two."
She printed it and signed out of the computer and cleared the history, and deleted everything, hoping to cover her tracks. The bell rang, starting the school day, and she headed to her first class of the day, which was math. She put her backpack on her desk and pulled out her book and notebook, along with the test with the forged signature.
She took the test and, with a fake sad look, walked it to her teacher. There were many things Jordan picked up from her father's work. One was how to act when lying- or in her case, attempting to lie. She'd seen her father's team do multiple cases being undercover and keeping a straight face. She felt this was one of those times.
Her teacher, Ms. Blye, looked up and saw her. "Jordan, do you have your test signed by your father?"
Jordan nodded weakly, trying to pull a fake sad puppy dog look. "Yes, ma'am, right here." She pulled it out, giving it to her. "My dad and I had a long talk about it. I really am gonna try harder."
"I hope so, you're a bright girl, I wanna see you succeed, have you told him about the conference we wanna have with him?"
She nodded. "Yes, ma'am, he's been really busy, so he doesn't know when he'll be able to come."
"I'm sure we'll come up with something."
Jordan handed the test back to her and went back to her desk. The young teacher eyed the math test and noticed something was off with the signature, but for the time being, she put it to the side.
Jordan felt for the moment she had everyone fooled. Everything was going according to plan. Nobody suspected a thing. But little did she know everything was already cracking. It would only be a matter of time before it all comes crashing down.
