nana

friday is coming
and everyone else
will be spinning under lights,
pressed close in the gym,
laughing too loud,
pretending the night
means forever.

and i'll be here,
alone with the silence,
grieving,
no distraction left
to blur the edges.

it's her birthday.
my nana.
my person.
the only one
who never cut me open,
never turned her love
into something sharp.
with her,
i was never afraid.
with her,
i was always enough.

i keep reaching for her
in the quiet,
in the hollow places,
as if she might still answer—
soft voice, steady hands,
the kind of love
that asks nothing back.

god, i miss her.
i love her so much
it feels unbearable sometimes,
like my chest is too small
to carry the weight of it.

friday,
the town will dance.
and i will sit here,
grieving the one person
who never hurt me,
loving her
with everything left in me,
wishing she could be here
to see how much
she still matters.

A/N: not my best writing but i sobbed while writing this so i feel like that counts for something.
