i am tired of being the safety net,
the place where everyone falls but no one stays.
you take and take and take,
and i let you, because isn't that what i'm supposed to do?
to love you is to suffocate under the weight of your needs.
i am the crutch you lean on when you limp,
but when i collapse,
you walk away without even turning back.
my anger feels like a storm trapped in a jar,
lightning sparking against glass that won't break.
my chest is a furnace,
burning with words i'll never say.
each unspoken scream scrapes against my ribs,
each swallowed rage fills my lungs like smoke.
i am drowning in air,
suffocating on the silence that follows my cries.
you never ask how i feel.
never.
not when i hold the world together for you.
not when my knees buckle from the weight.
you are blind to the cracks spreading through me,
the ones that bleed quietly in the dark.
when was the last time you cared to look?
when was the last time you saw me,
not just the hollow shell that props you up?
every night, i break.
i shatter like thin ice under too much weight.
it comes out all at once,
a wave of despair so raw it splits me open.
i scream into my hands,
but the sound dies there,
muffled and useless.
i look for a way out,
searching for something, anything,
to dull the ache that gnaws at my insides.
but there's nothing.
no escape, no release,
just the endless cycle of giving and breaking,
giving and breaking.
my thoughts turn dark,
spiraling into places i don't want to go.
if i disappear, will anyone notice?
will anyone care that the silence is quieter now?
would you, the one who leans so heavily,
even stumble if i were gone?
i stare into the void of myself,
a vast and aching emptiness.
it whispers that there is no rescue,
no relief.
only this endless scream in my chest
that no one hears.
my hands shake as i reach for something to hold on to,
but there's nothing solid left.
just shadows and the echoes of my own cries.
i want to yell,
to tear the universe apart with my bare hands,
to demand an answer for this endless pain.
but instead, i collapse into the quiet.
a silent plea hangs in the air,
a desperate, broken whisper,
for someone, anyone,
to free me from this simmering sorrow.
