Chapter 27

Lily's POV

I walked home and when I got there I walked up to my room and sat down on the bed.

I buried my head in my pillow and just cried. Whenever I tried to stop crying, more tears would come.

"Lily?" I heard a voice say.

I moved the pillow from my face and saw Sofia at the door. She came in and shut the door behind her.

"You okay?" She asked.

"I don't even know." I said wiping away tears.

"Gabe is looking for you. He's at the park at the moment."

"Why is he looking for me? He doesn't have to." I said.

She looked down at her feet and but her lip.

"Do you know why he like pushed me back upstairs?" I asked.

"We were talking about your mom and step dad. I guess he didn't want you to hear it." She said shrugging her shoulders.

I bit my lip and fought back more tears.

"Awe." Sofia said before pulling me into a hug.

I finally broke down and cried. After a few minutes, someone bursted through the door.

"Lily!" Gabe said.

I bit my lip and wiped away tears. Sofia left the room leaving Gabe and me alone.

"Lily where were you?" Gabe asked sounding angry.

"I got breakfast. I went to the diner down the road." I said quietly.

"Lily! Why? You could have gotten hurt!" He yelled again.

I bit my lip before turning away.

"Lily!"

"What else do you want to hear? All I did was go down to the diner and got breakfast! I don't know why you're mad when I'm the one who should be upset!" I snapped at him.

"Why should you be angry?"

"Not letting me come downstairs, pushing me back upstairs and not telling me why!"

"Lily we were talking about something going on with my mom!"

"Well you could have told me then I would have unders-" I stopped mid sentence.

"Sofia told me you guys were talking about my dad and didn't want me to hear it. Now you're telling me you were talking about your mom?" I asked.

No he can't be lying to me. He would never do that to me.

I looked at him and bit my lip.

"Are you lying to m-"

"Lily! I'm not lying to you!" He yelled.

"Then his come you and Sofia are telling me different stories?" I asked tears now streaming down my face.

He didn't answer.

"Gabe why are you lying to me?" I said.

"I'm not fucking lying at you! Damn stop fucking assuming shit!" He yelled.

I let more tears fall. I've never heard him swear this much.

"Gabe. Just please tell me the truth." I said calmly.

"I am telling you the truth!" He yelled.

"I think we need to take a break. From each other." He said.
