Chapter 39

Louis's POV

Why would Gabe ask me to go to the park? Is something wrong?

I drove as fast as I could to the park and parked down by the water.

I'm so confused right now. Where Gabe?

I then heard gasping and choking to the side of me. I looked to my left and saw Gabe holding a body.

I ran as fast as I could to Gabe and saw him shivering and saw his skin was almost a light blue.

"Dude what happened?" I asked.

No response.

"Gabe. Are you alright." I asked again.

I then saw tears streaming down his eyes.

I then saw the body he was holding.

Lily!

I picked up Lily's body and helped Gabe to the car. I set both of them in the back and wrapped two blankets around Gabe.

I turned on the heat and then drive to the hospital.

Gabe's POV

I couldn't speak. My heart was racing like crazy. My mind was a jumbled mess. I could barely think.

"You'll be okay Gabe, we're almost to the hospital." Louis said.

I just sat there trying to speak, but no words came out.

He looked at me through the mirror before he kept driving.

"Is Lily gonna be okay?" I asked.

"I'm not sure. But let's hope." Louis said as he pulled into the parking lot.

He helped me and Lily out of the car and into the waiting room.

I sat down and just looked at Lily.

Please don't die on me Lily. I can't afford to lose you.

I then saw two arms wrap around Lily's waist and felt two arms gently grab my arms and walk me into a room.

They sat me on the bed and took my temperature. Then they laid me down and put an IV in my arm.

"You'll be okay Mr. Conte." A nurse said before I fell asleep.

I woke up and was blinded by the hospital lights. I tried moving, but I was in so much pain I couldn't.

"Oh you're awake." A doctor said while smiling at me.

I gulped down a lump in my throat and just relaxed.

"You're lucky to be alive. If it was any colder, the water may have actually killed you." He said.

Then I thought of Lily.

"Where's Lily?" I asked.

"She's upstairs. She's alive, but uh..." He dragged on.

"But what?" I asked a little scared.

"She may have lost her memory." He said.

My heart felt like it was gonna drop.

"No. She couldn't have lost her memory." I said.

"I said she may have. We're not quite sure. When she woke up a few hours ago, and couldn't remember why she was here." He said.

"Did you ask her any questions?" I asked.

"Not yet. We put her back to sleep. We're hoping the next time she wakes up, we can ask her questions." He explained.

If Lily lost her memory then she wouldn't remember anything. She won't remember our lake date, she won't remember her birthday. She won't remember anything about me.

I then slumped down in my bed and took a deep breath.

"Can I see her?" I asked.

"Mr. Conte I don't think that's a very good id-"

"Can I please see her?" I begged.

He sighed before unhooking my IV and helping me into a wheelchair. He then called a nurse to take me upstairs.

When we got to Lily's room, we saw her asleep. My heart broke when I saw that cuts on her arm. Then she started moving. Then she woke up.

"Hello Ms. Jacobson." The nurse said.

She waved and then she saw me.

She then looked confused and scared.

"Who is this man?" She asked.

My heart dropped when she asked that.

She forgot.

I dropped my head in sadness and then pushed the wheels on the wheel chair so I could get to the elevator and back to my room.

She forgot. She forgot about me. She forgot about our lake date. She forgot about her birthday.

I shut the room door and just cried.

The best person I have ever met just lost her memory.

I got onto the bed and tried to fall asleep but I couldn't. I couldn't sleep knowing that my girlfriend lost her memory.

How am I going to sleep at night without holding her next to me? Who am I gonna kiss when I really need one?

Finally, I fell asleep thinking of all these things.

Lily's POV

Who was that guy. He looked familiar. Very familiar. He's also really cute.

"Uhm Ms. Jacobson, that guys is actually your boyfriend." The nurse said.

Boyfriend? I don't remember having a boyfriend.

I nodded before the doctor came in. We said hello and then he asked me questions.

"Okay Ms. Jacobson, some of the questions might be a little easy to answer, but some may not be easy to answer." He said as I nodded.

"Okay, what is your name?"

"I think it's Lily Jacobson." I said.

"Good. Now how old are you?"

"Nineteen." I said.

"Correct. Now this question is gonna be a little hard. Do you remember getting in a car crash when you were little?"

I thought really hard.

"No." I said.

He nodded his head and wrote down on his paper.

"Now, do you know that names of your mother and father?"

"Uhm, I think Angela and Brandon." I said.

He nodded his head.

"Now do you remember your stepfather?"

"I think his name was Derek." I said.

"Do you remember anything he did to you?"

What he did to me? What did he do to me?

"No." I said.

"Now last question."

"Do you remember a boy named Gabriel Conte?"
