Chapter 50

Gabe's POV

It's been almost 12 hours and still nothing has happened. I haven't heard anything about Lily at all.

Luckily, a doctor came out.

"Mr. Conte?" He asked.

I ran up to him and frantically waited for him to tell me something.

"Okay so we found out what happened with Lily's heart. We found out that she probably had a bad anxiety attack which made one of the cords to her heart snap. It looks like it's been broken for a few months now and we're surprised she's still alive. But we have two other doctors from different states who studied this kind of stuff a little longer and they're going to help us with the surgery." He explained.

I sighed before thanking him.

"Do you wanna see her?"

I nodded excitedly and u basically ran to her room. I quickly opened the door and saw her sitting up looking at the tv.

I quickly hugged her and she cried into my shoulder.

"Gabe. I-I'm scared." She whispered.

The Socorro then left and I crashed my lips against hers causing our lips to move in sync together.

"Why are you scared?" I asked after breaking the kiss.

"I have to get another transplant today. I'm not ready for that. They should just let me have the last six months of my life. I'd be bett-"

"Lily no don't say that. You need to live. I wouldn't know what I would do with myself if I lost you. You need to get this transplant. This one could actually work. You could live a full life!" I explained.

She looked down at her hands before biting her lip. I tilted her head up by her chin and looked her in the eye.

"Please go through with the surgery. I know it's hard and I know you'll be in a lot of pain, but I promise it will all be worth it later on." I said.

She smiled before kissing my cheek

"Oh I need to call my parents and siblings." I said pulling out my phone frantically.

She giggled as my phone fell to the ground. I picked it up and was happy it didn't crack.

I quickly called my mom and she said that she was going th being everyone except the grandparents to the hospital.

"You didn't have to come with." Lily mumbled quietly.

"Yes I did Lily. I had to make sure that you were okay." I said before sitting down on the bed.

"But I'm okay." I said.

"No fully. You have to get another surgery done in less than twelve hours."

"But they're bringing scores from different states here to help." She said.

"But the surgery could still go wrong even with three doctors." I explained.

"Gabe what has gotten into you?" She asked out of nowhere.

"I'm in love with you Lily. I'm so madly deeply in love with you it's crazy. And I have to worry because I'm in love with you so much. It's. It a choice. It's like I can't help not worrying about you." I said.

I took a deep breath to calm down and then looked at Lily. Her jaw looked like it was gonna fall off and her eyes were filling with tears.

"Lily I-"

Bridge I knew it, she sat up, grabbed the back of my neck, and pulled me into a kiss.

I gently grabbed her waist before she began tugging at my shirt.

"Lily no we're at the hospital." I said.

"I was just trying to get you to lay down with me." She said.

"Oh." I said awkwardly.

I scratched the back of my neck before laying down next to her. I wrapped my arm around her before pulling her closer to me.

I would leave small kisses on the back of her neck at times and I could see the chills going down her back.

We just laid there for a while and just enjoyed each other's company.
