THE CAR rocked into the demogorgan, just barely giving Joyce and the others the opportunity to dive out of the way. The creature lurched, opening its weird face-flaps, before it hissed at Steve's BMW and took off running again. Everyone stationed at the barn was fine, Jackie just managed to spot Robin and caught her eye before the vehicle was on the move again, following after the demogorgan.
Then, in one of the silos, the damned thing fabricated a gate, and disappeared into the Upside Down.
"It flipped," Dustin announced. "It's coming back toward us."
"Come on. What're you doing, man?!" Jonathan shouted. "We gotta turn around!"
"Wait, wait," Steve held up a hand. "Gates are kinda like Peanut Butter Boppers, right?"
Jackie pinched the bridge of her nose. "Babe, what?"
"The outside is, like, crunchy and tough," he went on. "But then you bite down on it, it gives way to a gooey, creamy core."
"Dude, what the hell are you talking about?!" Jonathan demanded.
"I drive fast enough, I think the Beamer can pinch a hole straight into the gate, and then we can track the demo on its home turf in the Upside Down."
Jackie's mouth parted, but Dustin cut her off. "We're losing the signal!"
"We won't be able to follow anything if we crash!" Jonathan protested.
"We're not going to crash if it's like a Bopper!"
"It's almost gone!"
Steve glanced to Jackie, who gnawed at her lip. "Okay," she finally said. "Okay, yeah."
"Do it," Nancy seconded.
"Now, Steve!" She shouted.
Steve didn't hesitate a second, switching gears and pushing onto the gas. The gate before them was materializing before their very eyes, stitching back together like a large wound.
