Moving from California to Indiana was definitely a downgrade in every book imaginable, especially during Jacqueline Mayfield's senior year of high school. With no familiar faces other than her family, no friends, and with her father several states away, she was convinced her life was over, Stuck in a small house with her asshole step-brother, being pestered by a girl she wouldn't have ever pictured befriending, and a town that had nothing to do, she was at her limit.
That was until she met a cocky boy who annoyed her to no end, annoyed her until she found out just how much she liked his stupid smile, and after battling a few faceless monsters that walked on all fours, she realized that maybe Hawkins wasn't so boring as she thought.
