I walked into my office, after coming from conference. Andrea, followed me inside along with Swayer who also seems to return back after completing the work I gave him. I send him to collect information on Pedro that with which enemy of mine he shook his hand.
The voice of AI welcome me, as I walked to sit on my chair behind the desk. Andrea, stood infront of me to discuss the paper work of the conference meeting I did earlier.
Jimin- Take a seat Swayer. Give me few minutes, we talk later.
Swayer- Yeah, Mr Park. Take your time.
He replied, moving to sit down on couch, maintaining his professional distance. I opened the console, tapping the translucent device in the air. Immediately, the holographic screen materialized, displaying complex data feeds and project summaries.
Freddy- Good afternoon, Mr Park. How did your meeting go? I hope it would have been the best. And you must have locked the deal.
Jimin- No, Freddy. Things didn't quite go well as I thought.
I stated, tapping the holographic display to pull up the minutes from the conference.
Jimin- There seems to be a lot of friction, and the terms of the deal, that could shift into a significant loss if we don't fix the liability issues immediately.
Freddy- I am sorry to hear that, Mr Park. Even though I had myself worked onto this deal so it would go smoothly, it seems like that wasn't enough. Anyway, I am here to resolve the issue. Where is the point of contention?
Jimin- Andrea?
I prompted, turning my focus on to her. Andrea immediately placed a digital tablet on the desk, its screen displaying a detailed financial breakdown.
Andrea- Mr Park, the primary issue is the liability clause. They are insisting on a 90-10 cost split for environmental compliance, placing the majority burden on us, despite our investment being only 60% of the operation. This disparity drastically increases our projected long-term capital risk against the initial profit margin.
I leaned forward, reviewing the highlighted figures.
Jimin- The 90-10 split is unacceptable. Did they offer any concession on the operational control rights in exchange?
Andrea- None, Mr Park. They are rigid on control but flexible on increasing our operational fees by 5%.
Jimin- A 5% fee increase doesn't mitigate the long term risk of the compliance penalties. It's a negligible adjustment against potential catastrophic environmental litigation.
I said analysing, rubbing my temples.
Jimin- Freddy, pull up the regulatory forecast for Sector C-4. I need to know the projected regulatory change probability over the next five years. We need hard data to counter their risk assessment.
