The evening air carried the salty tang of the ocean, a scent that always felt like freedom. After we visited the centre, we continued our journey until the roar of the waves signaled we had reached our destination. Jimin had planned this entire beach date for us, and honestly, I was surprised and touched that he actually remembered me mentioning how much I wanted to visit the shore with him.
It had been so long since we were on beach date like this, and seeing the romantic setup he'd prepared made my heart swell. He'd eve rented out the entire beach just so we could have all the privacy we needed. I sat on the mat, focused on slicing fresh fruits, while my gaze kept drifting toward the shoreline.
Jimin was out there with our kids, playing near the edge of the water. I had already finished my turn playing with them, retreating to the mat once I got tired they were being so beautifully chaotic. I hadn't even changed my clothes yet, choosing instead to just wrap myself snugly in a towel.
I watched them with a smile as they tumbled onto the sand, laughing loudly together. Kian and Klaire were sitting on the wet sand, pricking at the soil with their tiny, curious fingers while the waves lapped at their toes every second. Jimin stayed on high alert, keeping a protective guard over them near the water, but he didn't let his vigilance dampen the fun.
Klaire giggled at the top of her lungs when a wave hit her, causing her to tumble back onto the soft sand. Jimin immediately scooped both our kids up, spinning them around together in the air. Their laughter was like the most beautiful music to my ears. He carried them a little deeper into the water, and they started to lunge back toward the shore, shrieking in pure joy as the foam hit their legs.
Suhani- Alright, guys! The snacks are ready, come on!
I called out to them while filling a glass with a banana shake. Kian, hearing my voice, immediately started lunging my way, crawling across the sand with surprising speed. He blabbered loudly at me, his eyes fixed on the food.
Suhani- Klaire, Jimin, come on. That's enough water play for now.
I held my arms open as Kian finally reached the mat, hauling his small, wet frame into my lap. He was shivering, his teeth chattering against the evening breeze, but he was still laughing. I quickly reached for a towel and wrapped it tightly around him.
Kian- Ma.. ma... mama...
He looked up at me, pointing a shaky finger toward the bowl of berries.
Suhani- Yeah, just a minute, baby. Let me dry your hair first.
He leaned his small head against my chest, seeking warmth, as I started to change him into dry clothes. I wanted to get him bundled up immediately so he wouldn't catch a cold.
Jimin- You changed his clothes already? We were going to play more!
Suhani- No, Jimin. They'll catch a cold. It's already evening and the water is starting to get chilly.
