Chapter 99. Back to Dong Fang Amusement Park (Part 1)

Sunday, October 8, 2000, Sunday. Around 8:50 a.m., Gao Xinglang stood on the open area opposite Building 160 of the girls' dormitory. Dressed in a light yellow sports top and black sweatpants, he watched each girl walking out of the dormitory gate with a touch of impatience, occasionally glancing up toward the fourth floor and muttering softly, "Why haven't you come down yet?"

A few minutes later, as it neared nine o'clock, Fan Yueming strolled leisurely out of the dormitory gate. She wore a tracksuit in the same color as Gao Xinglang's, paired with a pink-and-gray sports casual bag, looking quite energetic.

Upon seeing Fan Yueming, Gao Xinglang's furrowed brows relaxed. He stepped forward, a big smile spreading across his face, and said, "Mingming, you look so beautiful in this outfit!"

"Do I look beautiful only in this outfit?" Fan Yueming smiled and teased him playfully, then pointed at Gao Xinglang and praised, "You look really smart in your outfit too!"

"So we're wearing couple outfits!" Gao Xinglang chuckled, then asked with concern, "Mingming, it took you so long to come down. Are you feeling unwell?"

"I'm fine. I just stayed up too late watching Korean dramas with the girls last night and overslept this morning." Fan Yueming reached out and gently pinched Gao Xinglang's nose, pretending to be annoyed and asking, "Did you get upset because I made you wait a little while?"

"No, of course not." Gao Xinglang smiled apologetically and added casually, "Let's grab breakfast first, then take a taxi to Dong Fang Amusement Park."

Around ten o'clock in the morning, the two arrived at Dong Fang Amusement Park, located at the foot of Baiyun Mountain. After entering the gate, Fan Yueming jogged excitedly for a short distance, then turned around and said to Gao Xinglang, "The amusement parks in Guangzhou are really huge!"

Gao Xinglang quickened his pace to catch up with Fan Yueming and asked curiously, "Mingming, haven't you been to Dong Fang Amusement Park before?"

Fan Yueming stopped, a hint of nostalgia in her voice, and said, "I came here once with my cousin when I was in seventh grade. That was so many years ago." "I never thought it would be closing down soon..."

"So you wanted to come play one last time before it closes." Gao Xinglang nodded gently, but unconsciously, he thought back to the summer vacation of his first year in junior middle school when he had visited the Park with Guan Xuchen.

"What's wrong? Why are you zoning out?" Fan Yueming gently patted Gao Xinglang's arm and asked with a smile.

"Oh, nothing—" Gao Xinglang snapped back to reality, put his arm around his girlfriend's shoulders, and smiled, "It doesn't matter this place is closing. There are plenty of other fun places in Guangzhou." "The safari park in Panyu district is pretty fun too. I'll take you there sometime!"

"I went there once with my parents after the college entrance exams." Fan Yueming pouted, then said with a sweet smile, "But going again with you wouldn't be bad at all."

The two first visited "Joyful China". After coming out, they noticed a bustling crowd in an open area not far away, which was very lively. When they approached, they saw that an "Olympics Celebration Carnival" was being held here.

"Didn't the Olympics end a long time ago?" Fan Yueming looked at Gao Xinglang beside her, asking with a confused expression.

"Today's the last day of the carnival!" A staff member at the entrance of the fair explained with a big smile, "Tickets are 20% off, and you can win coupons by playing games to exchange for prizes!"

Gao Xinglang asked Fan Yueming in a tentative tone, "Mingming, since we're already here, why don't we go inside and take a look?"

"Sure, but you have to win a lot of coupons to get me a big plush toy," Fan Yueming said in a slightly coquettish tone.
