Chapter 91. An Internet Date (Part 1)

Guan Xuchen finished his dinner early, took a shower, and washed his face thoroughly with cleanser before applying some moisturizer. He then changed into a light blue shirt and light brown trousers, combing his hair neatly into place.

Seeing this, Wen Yuwei teased, "Tommy, we're just going to the English Corner. You don't need to dress up like you're heading to a banquet, do you?"

Guan Xuchen turned his head and said apologetically, "Sorry, William, I have something to do tonight. I won't be joining you guys at the English Corner."

"You're not going on a blind date, are you?" Shan Kai, standing nearby, joked.

"No..." Guan Xuchen felt a bit embarrassed. "I'm just... meeting an online friend..."

"Oh, definitely a female online friend, right?" Ying Congyun chimed in teasingly, "You've been talking on the phone for so long every night lately... Must be a beauty, huh?"

"No—not..." Guan Xuchen stammered in denial.

But Lv Runfa added fuel to the fire: "Wait, I answered Tommy's phone a few times—the caller was a guy!"

"Huh? A guy? Guan Xuchen, you wouldn't be..." Shan Kai grinned mischievously.

"Okay, enough. Stop teasing Tommy." Wen Yuwei came to Guan Xuchen's rescue, "Whether he meets a guy or a girl online is none of your business!"

The other guys jeered. Guan Xuchen ignored them, quietly murmuring "Thanks" to Wen Yuwei before slinging his crossbody bag over his shoulder and heading for the door.

Guan Xuchen arrived near the east gate of Guangzhou Yixian University (GYU) and spotted a boy wearing a blue-and-white striped short-sleeved shirt and black trousers standing under a large banyan tree, peering into the campus. Earlier on OICQ, when Sonnik asked to meet up with Guan Xuchen, he had specifically mentioned that he would wear a blue-and-white striped shirt and black trousers.

Guan Xuchen approached cautiously and asked, "Excuse me, are you Sonnik?"

The boy appraised Guan Xuchen, raised an eyebrow, and laughed heartily. "Oh, Tommy? Hi there!"

Sonnik towered a full head above Guan Xuchen. When Guan Xuchen looked up at him, he felt something unusual.

After exchanging pleasantries, Guan Xuchen tentatively suggested, "Since you've come all the way here, how about I show you around GYU?"

Sonnik shook his head with a smile. "I've been to GYU several times already. Why don't we grab a seat at McDonald's and chat?"

Guan Xuchen agreed. They headed to the fast-food restaurant outside the east gate of GYU, each ordered a hamburger meal, and found a table to sit down.

Inside the brightly lit restaurant, Guan Xuchen finally got a clear look at Sonnik. Sonnik had a diamond-shaped face, large eyes, a prominent nose, and full lips. Combined with his occasional sunny smile, he looked quite handsome.

Guan Xuchen stared at Sonnik, momentarily lost in thought, his heart beginning to pound wildly.

Noticing Guan Xuchen's dazed expression, Sonnik teased, "What's up? Got something on my face?"

Guan Xuchen snapped back to reality, responding with a touch of embarrassment, "Oh—no, no, I was just distracted thinking about something else. Sorry..."

Sonnik gave a faint smile and continued eating his hamburger.

The two ate and chatted. At first, Guan Xuchen felt it had a hint of a date, but gradually, it didn't quite feel like one. Their conversation revolved around school matters, just like two ordinary male classmates grabbing burgers at a fast-food joint after a basketball game or class.
