Chapter Twenty-Seven

I went into the house and started to unpack.

Then Nikki came in and said,"Yeah. Sure. Of course! How about Friday at 8:00 for 2? Great! Huh....... well ok." 

Then I noticed that she had an ear piece. 

Dinner for two?

I wonder who she could possibly go to dinner with when we just moved. I admit I was getting suspicious.

I'll just follow her to where she goes tomorrow.

I know but how would you feel when your wife hung around a mysterious person? 

So much for a happy ending. 

3 HOURS LATER

I am in my car and Nikki's talking to him! 

I am so angry! 

After that, I went home.

I mean, they were just on their appetizers but who cared? I sure didn't. I drove back home and went into my room.

I took a shower and relaxed. Then I just read a book while the kids played downstairs. 

Alex was on a date with his girl.

When Nikki returned, I couldn't help asking,"Going around my back huh?"

She looked confused.

She had a knack for acting.

She said,"Oh that was you? That guy was-"

I didn't wait for her to finish. I was mad and right now, I was letting it all out.

I said,"Boyfriend?"

Nikki rolled her eyes and said,"No, that guy was my lawyer. Remember?"

I didn't remember needing a lawyer.

"We needed to go against our house renter?" 

Oh! That's right. 

I was ashamed.

I said,"Oh yeah....Sorry."

She just sighed and went to bed.

12 HOURS LATER

I woke up and found a note.

It said:

Romantic Dinner at 10:00. Kids will sleep over at the neighbors. Dress nicely and don't be late. I'm gone until then. ♡ you.

I just wanted to lay around! I laid out my tux and went out. I needed some food.

MANY HOURS LATER.....

It's 9. I got dressed and went into the restaurant that was written in the back. Then, I waited for Nikki.
